Will someone provide me with the anti-Thompson argument? Seems to me like he's got the most solid Conservative credentials, despite being a "Hollywood Type." I mean, look at the other options: Governor of Liberal Mass? Pro-abortion Mayor of Liberal New York? The Maverick? The Socially Compassionate Everyman? I thought you guys were looking for the next Reagan. Why not Thompson?

When he came in he was detached, provided poor answers, was lacking in some of the party rhetoric and in general seemed out to lunch. Some of his answers to questions were from 1955 and the others responses were 2 or 3 months late. The stage was set for him, but he didn't grab it and run with it.

Fair enough. I'm just hoping Ron Paul can stick around long enough for the Montana Primary to push him into the lead!!!

Here's a question for you guys that are still in college. How has Paul been able to make such large inroads into and onto college campuses? He seems to have really penetrated that segment in a big way. In many ways his campaign is like nothing we've seen before. There's this small but extremely passionate and dedicated following.

I know 2 Paul supporters and they are just adamant about this guy. One is in grad school and the other is my very old/cantankerous neighbor.Seems like if there's ever been a case of people supporting and voting for someone outside of their interests (I would highly recommend reading What's The Matter with Kansas) it's with this guy and his vast young supporters.

But I thought that was a GOOD trait (Maybe just for Guliani). Won't that help keep us safer from the terrorists?

Huge win for McCain in S.C. Romney's Nevada win not terribly surprising considering the LDS base there. I expected BO to be a little closer to Clinton.

Also, aren't Obama, Clinton, Edwards, and McCain all senators for their respective states right now? Don't they have an obligation to their constituents (who put them in Washington in the first place) to sit in on Congressional votes, senate hearings, etc.... Seems to me none of the aforementioned have been doing their congressional duty for the past 6 months or so...But then all i really know about congressional workings is what I see on Cspan2 occasionally when i need to fall asleep

Scooter, if you want to pick up a couple of points, Thompson is still around on the Republican side as well everyone's favorite OB-GYN, Ron Paul. That will also bump up the worth of your other selections. I'd jump on that Thompson thing soon, because he may be out shortly. Gravel is still breathing, technically, as well, for the Dems.

Either way, I think this country is screwed for the next 8 years.

Edwards righteousness no longer stems from his participation in the senate. He's just a man of the people. In a 21,000 square foot house.

McCain has zero chance of winning the overall GOP nomination. Zero.

I beg to differ, Sonny. I'd say if McCain wins the Florida primary he is almost a lock to be the GOP nominee, and will also offer the best chance for the Republicans to keep the White House next November. I'll go on the record here (late) to predict a McCain-Lindsay Graham GOP ticket.

The Democratic race is really up in the air, especially if Obama wins South Carolina. I have no clue whether Hillary or Barack will eventually be the nominee at this point -- there's simply too many primaries remaining that could go either way. But I will predict that there is a zero chance (to borrow Sonny's certainty phrase) that any of the three remaining Dems will "ticket up" together. Either Clinton or Obama will ultimately be the nominee, and they will NOT choose the other, or Edwards, as their running mate.

If Hillary prevails, Bloomberg WILL jump into the race as an independent and will pledge $1 billion of his own money to the campaign, which buys an awful lot of t.v. spots. Only an Obama nomination keeps MB from officially declaring his own candidacy.
