Do they count or not?
That question has already been answered in the negative during the course of this thread...childish or not.
I think the real problem that people have is that FSU had an opportunity to show that they were worthy of their ranking and unfortunately for them, they did not capitalize on this opportunity.
3 goal loss...That result might say to you that FSU is not even in the same league as BYU but to me it says there was a hard fought game in Tallahassee between a perennial power with revenge on their mind and an upstart program trying to prove that last year was no fluke.
It has to do with the fact that FSU thinks they are entitled to an elite status within the MDIA on the basis of one big win last year at the National Tournament.
Really? FSU thinks that? Did the great Florida State hype machine issue that statement because it's news to me. The Seminole players would be the first to tell you that as a result of what was without question the biggest win in school history they are under tremendous pressure this year to build on that success. Now, some yahoo fan may shoot off on these message boards behind the safety of a screen name but I don't think that FSU is the only team to have that happen. If folks want to get all bent out of shape over that, well then that degrades the discourse on these message boards and we sink to name calling and statements like, "take a chill pill bro".
I hope that FSU continues to try to play the best competition available, be it D2 teams in Florida or western trips. I believe the only way to improve is to constantly challenge yourself and is the true essence of competition.
