USC also won the coaches poll but they were contractually obligated to vote with the BCS. Auburn has no stake. They were not voted #1 by anyone.

did anyone end up naming auburn their national champion? i know there are like 15 organizations/publications that name a national champ.

USC received the National Championship in 2003 from the media. Auburn received no such championship in 2004.

I believe the rule is that the coaches poll must elect the BCS champion as the national champion, but the ESPN/USA Today Poll is not held to such standards.

there are other publications that name their own national champions i remember seeing a site with them once. some of the picks were very strange

No need to get so bent Alum. Sorry for the pics...didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just thought they were neato action shots. My friend, I have been a lifelong fan of USC...oh yeah, I play lacrosse for USC too. No bandwagoning here.
I don't know why you insist USC is so weak when we whooped you boys last time and went undefeated last year (waiting for "well, you didn't play us last year.")

Actually it is kinda French, since Cajuns are descended from French people via the Acadians...

Listen bro I am not "bent" man...... my feelings aren't hurt that hurt. Not only that, but I had no idea that you played lacrosse for USC. I just thought that you were on this board to talk football. Your team was better than us two years in a row. But your team is not better than the LSU of 2004 or the AU of 2005. We all just need to cooooolllll out, frost our tips, catch some waves, and sun ourselves on the CA beaches. BRO!

Amen to that bro. Though I'm not quite sure what "frosting our tips" is, if it has to do with tri-tip, I'm in.
This is a never ending debate. We'll never know.(I'll follow the trophies though.):)
Hopefully, we can see an Auburn vs. USC Rose Bowl this year and hoist a few Guinnei before the game.

I will take 50% of that.........USC vs. Iowa would be a nice little rematch of 2002.....plus like 10 people have already called my couch if Iowa were to make it to the Rose Bowl this year.

Not true. USC was better than both of those teams. LSU got their 1/2 championship handed to them by the media. Auburn never got their chance. Both situations were due to BCS (Big Crock o' S...). USC was the better team in both cases, IMHO.
