Wiley at SSU

Just curious about Wiley transferring to 'Noma. I'm assuming that since the WCLL leadership is in charge at SSU, that everything is on the up and up. The timing is interesting though. I didn't think you could play fall-ball at one school and play right away somewhere else at the NCAA level. Has the MDIA addressed this situation before? Can anyone clarify?

Not only the WCLL leadership, but I think Doug Carl is also the MDIA Eligibility chair, so they must know what they are doing.

It appears that Corey Garrard, LMU's second leading scorer from last year, is also not on their roster this year. Don't know where he is now, but that's 2 tough losses.

Not particularly newsworthy, but worth a note on the west side gossip arena that is the WCLL board.
Wiley will likely hook up for a few more scores here in the north bay (with a 30/70 ratio, who wouldnt?) , and may provide Noma's midfielders with a welcomed wingman, but the Cossacks reign at the top is over. Without the great wall of Gomez making an impact on the field, Sonoma's cage will be littered with chippys that will slide past their D.

If only Santa Clara could walk the walk, they could capitalize on this moment.

Cal, no way. Too many boys who can milk the college admissions exams, but sputter out come game time.

Tyson Poor is a professional windsurfer and has not played for Chico for 1 to 2 years. Whit Poor is also no longer playing for Chico (wasn't on the team this fall) as I believe he is windsurfing now as well.

Chico possibly.

1) Cal is in the same conference as Santa Clara and SLO. Sonoma and Chico are likewise in the same conference.
2) Chico only beat Cal last year in overtime. Cal could not have had more than 18 players available for that game.
3) The Golden Bears this year have a roster double last years. After a few games those young dedicated cubs may gel. 6 more weeksof playing together till the SLO game.
4) Word is that a potential impact player who had not been playing MDIA Lax freshman year- for obvious reasons- transferred to Cal from Santa Cruz at mid year.

They had him against UCLA but he did not score. He did score vs. USC.
Catlaxman, you should be familiar with him, Cameron Sampson, (listed as #51 on WCLL website roster) from Berkeley High. He and Julian Coffman (AA-Oregon) helped to demolish SI in 2003.
Tall, fast middie offered scholarship to D1 Rutgers in lax. Very good player but it won't be enough against UCSB.

You should also probably concede that it was not a close game until the last few seconds when SI scored twice to make it look respectable.

I'm guessing UCSB will have more fans. Willy Hung gets bigger crowds than Cal lax.

You obviously have never been to a Friday night Cal game . Up until 2003, Cal lacrosse drew the 5th largest attendance of ANY sport on campus behind Football, Men's and Women's basketball, and Rugby. Granted, now is a different era in Cal lacrosse and I wouldnt be surprised to see more UCSB fans, but I would put good money on the fact that they have higher turnouts at Friday night games than the majority of MDIA teams

When I talked to Steve Dini last weekend, he said that they expect 800 to 1,000 fans for the UCSB vs. Cal game. Not sure where he came up with this figure, but that's not a bad sized crowd
