Thanks to Troy Hood and Lindenwood!
It was a hard fought game, ton of penalties. Lindenwood's starting goalie got hurt in the 1st Quarter which changed the complexion of the game.

AJ Stevens is now at L-Wood? That's a pretty big/bitter upset I imagine, losing to Illinois.

Where did you hear this? It must have been uncomfortable on the sideline and shaking hands after.

Just what I was told. If I am incorrect then I apologize.

That was a question, but my grammars are bads.

Instead of "AJ Stevens is a coach at L-Wood now?" would be better as "IS AJ Stevens a coach at L-Wood now?".

I shouldn't have brought a Gameboy to English all those years.

It seems I can remember a post earlier this year about Illinois not being in the top 25. Congrats on the re-entry....

...i just said re-entry

Will Illinois really get into the top 25? I mean LU had some quality wins, but with a loss to MSU who just made the ranking, and im sure everyone knows that LU's goalie got hurt during the game. Do you think that just because they have only one win against a ranked team (#20LU) they can make the 25 spot? I'm not sure about the "re-entry" or if LU will just drop some spots, but I guess we will see when the polls come out.

I doubt the Illini will make it into the top 25, even after beating LU. It seems like they are having a down year by their standards this season, but they do have a legitimate shot at taking down conference and getting the AQ for the GRLC

LU was their 2nd top 25 win. Mich. State is #24, and Illinois won that game.

Recap of games in Rolla this weekend:
Friday
Harding 2-1-4-9 = 16
Missouri S&T 3-3-2-1 = 9

A very intense game, with the first quarter ranking as one of the better periods of lacrosse played in Missouri this spring. We played with heart and adrenaline, Harding played with heart and talent. Our adrenaline waxed, then waned; their talent was constant and resulted in their victory. I put Eric Harder one-on-one on Ben Cormier and he held him to a single assist, with Ben's goal coming on a man-up opportunity. Great match up all game.

Saturday
Harding 11
Rockhurst 4

Harding introduced their "camo" uniforms. Rockhurst traveled with a short bench, having only 10 healthy players by end of the game on Sunday.

Sunday
Missouri S&T 3-10-3-0 = 16
Rockhurst 2-1-0-0 = 3

Opportunity for our newer players to get some experince.

Thanks to both teams for making the trip.

from what I understand the GRLC can expect a different playoff picture this year. Illinois is looking to be the strongest team in DI even with a mid-season coaching change, which would cause most teams to experience performance issues. Illi had one bad game and has come full speed since then. The DI-AA is presenting a K-state team that seems to have grown since last year. Also, Ole Miss has worked out their kinks and seems to have some momentum to wrap up their season. DII will be interesting due to certain circumstance within the conference. Dordt looks to possibly be the #1 seed for playoffs; Creighton drops from the top 25 after this weekend. So, DII looks to be toss up this year. The more dominant teams in the GRLC, DI and DII, might not be the representatives at nationals this year.

I wouldn't go crowning Illinois the GRLC champs so fast. Lindenwood has performed at a higher level then Illinois. There win over Lwood was big, but Lwood losing there goalie was even bigger. If Lwood can get their starting goalie back I see no problem with LU going back to nationals for the 4th year in a row, and if they dont things might get real interesting

Agreed that LU should not be counted out. They have shown some great talent this year, with some really big wins. The fight against Utah proves that, as does an early win over Georgia, as well as the fact that Lindenwood beat Tex A&M who defeated Illinois.

However, Illinois fared better than LU against SFU, Mizzou, and Michigan State.

I wrote about last year's conference championship game saying that it was an edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with ups and downs for both sides, and that was certainly the case. If what eveyone posting so far in this thread has assumed is true, and LU and UofI do rematch in the championship game again this year, I expect nothing less. From someone who has closely followed both teams this season, i think that we will see a splendid match of lacrosse if these two teams butt-heads again.

I realize that I did not make any comments about LU in my post. However, the comment was calculated. LU has had a bit of an off year as compared to last year and the year before. The season has been a bit of a rollercoaster for them. Illi has played consistently throughout the season and playing well as a team right now. Nobody is declaring that the title be handed over to anyone. It is just my opinion that playoffs will be different this year. LU does not have the "go to playmaker" that they are used to. LU is a great team, and so is Illi. But, does Illi not go in as #1 seed in playoffs? Is it not LU that traditionally gets that #1?

Assuming no shake ups this weekend. It looks like the Illini will get the #1 seed in the GRLC tourney, which will be a new twist to the tournament. I believe the tournament is being held again at Lindenwood's field, so it will be interesting to see how Lindenwood bounces back knowing the Illini have to now beat them on their home turf to get to Dallas.

Harding will now be in playoffs and should take the #1 seed. So, the playoffs will be similar to those of the past in DII. Playoffs will be very interesting considering Dordt appears to be playing very well. So, I'm assuming it will look like this.

DII
#1-Harding
#2- Dordt
#3-SLU
#4-Creighton
#5-Wheaton??-if they win their last two
#6-who can you put here...looks like this spot could be filled by a team w/ a losing record in the conference.

*#1 and #2 depends on goal differential for Dordt's upcoming game.

If Wheaton beats Depaul Wed, I think they get the 4 seed. This will also set it up for the winner of the Augustana/Depaul game to get the 6 seed.
