Some people still have some growing up to do.

OK...you go vote for someone whos father was an islamic extremest and still thinks he is feeling the racism in America...gimme a break barack, you are running for president!!!! Obama is just mad now and making cushy speeches because he got caught being a member of a white-hating, racist church. Everything that his church stands for is whats wrong in America and people are still going to back him. If he were white and was in a church that stood for white power, white equality, white blah blah blah, he would already have dropped out and would be hated on by people for being a racist and his political career would be over. Our country will become a even bigger target the minute he is elected and pulls the troops out. I think the liberals are the ones who need to grow up and realize this guy is not what we need....

Wow.

Ok, disbelief and shock aside, you obviously no nothing about race and power relation. To bring down the discourse a little, consider how black comedians can make fun of black people and white people, but white comedians can only make fun white people. The group in power has constraints on its criticism because of its power. Same goes for the difference between the KKK and the Black Panthers. Hate is hate, and it's bad, but if you don't understand the nuance of race relations, you shouldn't comment on them.

Also, judging someone by their religion seems a little much (in reference to that little comment about Obama's father), but conservatives have to grasp at whatever straws they can at this point.

Oh, referring to someone's words as "retarded" is puerile at best. (Look it up.)

Lastly, everyone should read this:

and learn what a real conservative is.

Well, he didn't refer to his words as retarded - I believe he said they were retarted - must be something like sour grapes.

I just don't understand why black people are upset with white people. It's pretty hurtful to hear Rev. Wright's words, not only as a white man, but especially as an American. It makes one wonder if this type of stuff goes on at all black churches.

Do we really want a president who is an anti-semite and who sympathizes with terrorists? I certainly don't. You can laugh at me for being an old coot, but I just thought I would speak my mind.

The guy out of all of the selections in the poll that wrote a lot of speeches isn't even listed - Bill Clinton. George Bush number one did some speech writing as well. Pure oratory......Regan was pretty solid on this front. I think in modern history Kennedy takes the cake though.

He might be feeling racism in America because racism still exists in America. believe it or not people still judge on race, sex, gender, etc. Although racism has turned from a more overt (out in the public, sorry dont want to confuse you) to a covert (hidden) deal. There is less riots with whites burning down a black church or beating a store owner because they served a black person, but those people that normally would have go home and curse those people out, just building up hate until one day they explode.

There has been no link from Iraq to 9/11 (Dont believe me? Pick up a paper from a few days ago and the pentagon confirmed it, and they are your buddies) so if you say we are a bigger target if we pull out of Iraq, I would have to say we became a bigger target when we first targeted Iraq who did nothing wrong to us. Yea Saddam wasn't a good guy but neither are those people who lead the tribes in Africa who are killing men, women, children, using rape as a form of weapon.

Also, this calling everyone over in the middle east or anywhere that islam is practiced an Extremist needs to stop. When you use that term over and over again it shows how uneducated the person is. It is like saying everyone in Iraq hates us, and if you honestly believe that everyone in Iraq hates us, lord have mercy on your soul. those comments are the breeding grounds of racism.

I'm I the only one who is confused by Obama critics that cite ties to "Islamic extremists" and still bash him for what his Christian pastor said? Although I think both points hold little value, you can only have it one way... either he's a Muslim and you hate him, or he's a Christian and you hate him. Right (wing)?

If you like his politics or not, you have to think that is one of the better speeches that we have heard in a long time. I am still not sure who is my candidate, but i would say that having a black president would be a huge step for this country especially in the deep south. Having never lived in the "deep south" or really spent much time down there--Do you think there would be outrage like never before if a person who is black was in the white house?

Regardless of what you may think of the speech and crux for the speech, I think everyone has to admit that it's absolutely amazing that we are even debating the merits of the man and his reply. For the first time in modern history a rebuttle and speach is being debated on a large scale - at a detailed level. Well, there was Bill's "I did not have sexual relations with that woman speech". That may have been debated a little.

So by stereotyping the south as racist...you are concerned with the south stereotyping Obama? Hahaha

I saw more racism in my home state (Ct) than the state I've lived in since just before college (Ga).

Just because the KKK and/or yokels seems to stand out more in the south...doesn't mean there's not some rich snob at his place in the Hamptons dropping N-bombs and cursing the black man. While someone in the south that may classify as a "redneck" has a best friend that is black.

I would look forward to a black president...because then all of the racist idiots would make themselves known.
