Boston University?

Boston University?

BU was a great team in 2003, only losing one league game to BC, and only by a couple of goals. What happened to them last season? And is there anything to expect from them this year?

It seems there was a tremendous drop-off. Was it graduating players?

I'm not sure what the dropoff was. They had some coaching changes that may have effected the team, though that is only speculation.

Their defense was strong but there offense until 2003 was limited to 1 or 2 players and they may have graduated.

I agree with Rad. They have gone through three coaches in three years. You can have the best coaches in the world, but the transition is never easy.

As the coach in 2003, I can say that team stability took a nose dive after I left. I was fortunate enough to play at BU from 93-97 where I was team president and captain. I took a position as an assistant after graduating for 98-00, and was head coach from 01-03.

Add it up, that is 10 years guiding the program. A violation of school policy resulted in my dismissal which crippled our season, and we were forced to remove ourselves from the PCLL playoffs. It was a shame because UNH, BC, and BU each had one loss to each other and any of us could have made nationals (BC ended up going). The school came down hard on us, and team morale dropped dramatically. After I was shown the door, there was no one at the school with a passion for the program and certainly no one with knowledge of the intimate workings of the MDIA and BU red tape. Only a couple of senior players remained on the team in 2004, but everyone was so bitter that hearts just weren't in it. My assistant stayed on one season but he had other responsibilities, and now they have a new coach.

Unfortunately, they have a long road to travel to return to one of the league's best. They have some solid young players, but the desire isn't there. They were one of the very few teams that did not make a trip this season and I don't think they are playing any OOC games. It breaks my heart as an alumni and someone that shaped and built that team for many years. Hopefully, Coach Remsen will take the reigns and make the team his own, giving it a new identity and refocusing the players. It is going to take some work though.

You start putting kegs on the sideline and providing hookers for players of the game and that can happen!
Now they've got you in charge of the league - isn't that like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse?

Thanks for the opportunity to express my opinion, but I think it's better to leave my message off

Other than a mom once in a great while, I think this is the first girl we've had on the message board. Goodbye sausage fest! :D
