RB, were you there? Did Ithaca play its horses the whole way?

I wasn't there. BuffaloWill was at the game and sending updates to Brauck. Brauck's server went down, so he couldn't post anything.

Great performance by the Panthers... taking a top-ranked DIII team to the wire is impressive, and speaks to the prgoress our "club league" has made.

Good thing this game was only a scrimmage for Ithaca.

Got some more info from Brauck. He said that Ithaca played a different style in the second half and won a lot of the faceoffs. He also said Oregon would have beat Ithaca easily.

Dudes comments are hilarious.

Ithaca slowed it down and it the shots in the second half. Made shots, Chapman didn't.

Thank goodness for Bruin after game recap to keep me sane.

Ithaca leftbtheir starters in the whole game. Great statement for an MCLA team to put in 16 goals on a top 5 div 3 team.

first post to update everyone interested in the game. Ithaca is a very good team, great from the offensive end, through the midlines, to the defense. I am 90% sure they had their starters in the entire game based off the scouting report from the Whittier game. Only exception being to the goalie, who was the second string at the beginning, then was subbed out for the starter half way through the 2nd.

The game was intense the entire way through, the score was Chapman 2 Ithaca 1 with 13:30 left in the first quarter. Pretty much spells out the entire game. In the 4th Ithaca hit the shots and Chapman did not. Loved coaching it, hated losing it.

No Excuses

Postby SoCalLaxDoctor on Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:29 am

I have been out here for three years from the Balt area and must say todays game between Ithaca and Chapman was a testament to the growth of Lax out West. Coach Long addressed both Teams and supporters after the game and openly and favorably compared Capman to DIII powerhouse Cortland State. From what I saw, he was right on target. Chapman played a mix of Juniors and underclassman the entire day, while Ithaca's starters rarely left the field, except the starting goalie who was no match for the Chapman sharp shooters in the first half. Chapman scored 10 goals in the first half and dominated in shots on goal in the first quarter. A little better finishing from Chapman and they could have been up by as many as 6 or 7 at one point on the second quarter. The game turned on the face off X and late when Chapmans horses seemed to run out of gas and gave up some quick fast break and unsettled goals. Ithaca has some very strong shooters and seemed to to play inspired after they took their first lead in the game at about 6 mins left in the game breaking a 14-14 tie. THIS WAS TOP 10 DIII LACROSSE!

Nice job Chapman you almost pulled it out, still great showing. Is Oregon playing Ithica this year, or was by saying Oregon can beat Ithica implying that Oregon is a better team than Chapman? Oregon is still a great team, but they are a very different team, I am not sure if they can make it back to the finals, but I am sure they will go deep.
