PNCLL Week #6 (3/5-3/11) -- Predict/Report Scores/Discuss
i'm not going to continue to beat a dead horse, however i think this deserves to be looked at in a different light. forget about one game and think of the past few years. when team A beats team B by 10+ goals consistently and then wins by single digits that merits some sort of victory.
of course a W is a W and everyone hates to lose, we all know lacrosse is all about runs. but if a team can "hang" or "hold on" for most of a game against and obviously better opponent that shows something about that teams character and fight. it also shows how far they have come since the last time they faced that opponent.
look at from this point, oregon beats montana three years ago by what? 15 goals or something like that, and then only wins by 9 the next time. do we say montana has gotten better, or oregon is falling off?
this same debate has come up with SFU's recent road trip, by them beating a higher ranked team the question is, is SFU really that good, or is lindenwood starting to fall off?
i also was not at the game, but for us that understand the game know that the end result is not always the story of the game.

The Loggers had a bay day yesterday, apparently. Down to #60 now, Kyle -- you've been leap-frogged by winless North Dakota and four other more deserving teams. Did LaxPower have observers out watching you guys practice?

I have come to the conclusion that these LaxPower rankings only have the PNCLL-2 teams so low for one reason. If you look at the strength of schedule out of 97 teams the PNCLL-2 ranks like this.
WWU 85
WU 86
PLU 87
CWU 88
L&C 89
SOU 90
CI 91
WC 93
UPS 94
WOU 96
I am just glad to see that I am part of a special team that plays the second easiest schedule in the nation. At least we beat out Cal Lutheran who only plays one game against a top 25 team (#24 Pepperdine).

And the only reason WU and WWU are up soooo high is because we scheduled the pushovers that are Stanford and Washington. The computer schedules hate us because we only play each other, and the OOC games we do have are against the WCLL, who you will notice are right there with us at the bottom.
Also, I would love to play the Duke club team and get stats counted for that game like Appalachian State did. Easy way to build up some points.

In all fairness to App. State, they won the game 12-11 against the Duke club. . .not exactly pushovers - I'd say they earned the stats they ended up with in the game.
It is no different than the teams that played games against Portland State this season. . .some scrimmaged, but others played official non-MCLA games and all stats were counted.

I think I'm just bitter cause our stats against Portland State don't count because I was too cheap to spring for refs

Primetime- you cant be seriously calling that any sort of debate? can you? it sounds to me that youre argument is that because Oregon "only" won by 9 against Montana this year that we may be falling off? i'm sorry but thats just ridiculous. It is true that montana has gotten better but the score from last weekend represents the same reality as the score from years past, the better team came out on top. There is absolutly no way anybody could argue that because Oregon won by 15 years back and "only" 9 this year that this shows some sort of progress or even downfall by either team. It was a 9 goal victory.

I figured this was dead and nobody would actually think that Oregon has fallen off...
we certainly aren't the only two teams that have gotten better since 2004. That spread was actually -26 for us, but we only have one player from that team on our team now and I don't think Oregon has anybody left on their team from '04... comparing the two games at face value is pointless.
