PNCLL Week #6 (3/5-3/11) -- Predict/Report Scores/Discuss

Postby AndyP on Sun Mar 09, 2008 9:08 pm

A little off topic...is it just me or are the Huskies quietly having one of their best seasons in recent years?

They got a strong OOC win early in the season then beat the Broncos and Griz by roughly the same margins SFU did.

Next week's Clan vs. Huskies match will be interesting and SFU should be careful of not looking too far ahead to their tilt vs Sonoma.

Again?!?!

Great job Kyle. And congrats SFU for shutting down an A&M attack that has been seriously rolling this season.

I would not exactly call beating USC, a team that is 2-6, a strong OOC victory. But I do agree that UW has quietly been going about business in the PNCLL. I was surprised they did beat Montana but was equally surprised that they only be Gonzaga by 2.

I am still going to have to give the edge to SFU +5.

As I see it I would rank the PNCLL as
Oregon
SFU
UW
Montana
OSU
Gonzaga
Boise
Idaho
WSU

Big win for Montana today. I think everyone wants to see them be able to compete. I am hoping the lose against Washington doesn't end up biting them in the butt later on. I would personally like to see them finish 3rd in the conference.
As for Washington, they have won some games which feels good, but they aren't going to pose any real threat to SFU or Oregon and are therefore insignificant come post-season. Same goes for the rest of the PNCLL...
The SFU v. Oregon game will be as fun as ever this season. In recent years Oregon's offense has had a lot of fun in that game. I don't expect anything to be different this year... I am all for SFU making the tourny again though, so good luck the rest of the season.

Could someone from WOU, SOU or L & C clerify on the rumor that Nyc Hayden from WOU dropped out of school or left the team?

He is one of the top attackmen in our entire league. It's a huge loss for WOU, but they have tons of offense, so I'm sure they'll regroup. It's really a shame. I hope he's OK and that he finds his way back to college at some point to finish what he started. . .

Looking at some rosters, I also see that 1st Team All Conference Midfielder Curtis Manning is now listed as an LSM. Interesting switch in position.

From the 1 game I saw he was playing LSM, but on the recent roadie the Clan were on, he scored a couple of goals. He might be switching back and forth depending on the situation.

not the first time they have done this. Yeun did it and I think Kojima did it a few times against us too. It was funny to watch them run to the box and instead of a new guy coming on they would throw them a different stick and run back on.

Definately one of the top scorers and players in the league. Huge loss for WOU. I think everyone wishes him well and hopes he can finish his degree because really that is what we all are here no matter what we're division we're in.

Wow the Laxpower computer sure has no love for the PNCLL's D2 teams!

After improving to 6-0, UPS has now fallen all the way to 55th place in the power rankings -- and behind teams like 0-7 Georgia Southern -- which lost it's only game against a ranked team (SCAD) by a score of 17-2. Kyle if you guys go undefeated in the regular season it would seem likely the Loggers will then be ranked dead-last in the nation after your final game...

2nd Monday in a row where we pull into Missoula after 3 AM... can I really be too old for this already?

I was satisfied with our trip to Oregon this weekend, as we continue to improve, but I still think there is a lot of work for us to do. Our very young defense has some growing up to do, but we are starting to tighten things up there some, and we should be back at full strength roster-wise for our upcoming trip to California and that extra depth will help.

The Ducks are really good. I think we executed a pretty good game plan for all but 10-15 minutes, but in that short time they really made us pay. They shoot hard and very accurate, any time their hands were free they would bury it. The Ducks also played very unselfishly on offense and I thought Swanson had a great game in the cage for them. We have a lot of work to do if we hope to beat them soon, but I think our body of work for the day showed our guys that it's possible to hang with them. Impressive win Ducks, good luck to you guys the rest of the season.

Sunday was a must win and we got one. Defensive let downs allowed the Beavers to get back into this one momentarily, but I was never too worried about the outcome. OSU put up a good fight, but they simply didn't have the manpower on defense to stop us. Their FOGO had a great game and gave both Travis and Tucker trouble throughout the day. We were also able to win without a goal scored by Townsend or Bagley... I talked to T after the game, noting to him that it was his first game in his career here without a goal... he laughed and said he might just dish from now on.

Anyway, we're going to keep truckin, tighten things up a bit in the next two weeks of practice and go down to Cali and get down to business. I'm really hoping our loss to UW doesn't come back to haunt us, but we'll just have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, we're loving the competition and having some fun... thanks to the Ducks and Beavers for hosting.

Congrats also to the Clan for their wins over the weekend... you guys have been underrated for years and now everybody else knows it. Way to schedule that trip and take care of business. Also congrats to UPS for emerging from the PNCLL-2 mess we left... Coach Kevin can start planning his annual trip to Fred's! Nice work Kyle and Co., we'll see you in Missoula!
