I started writing a long dialogue but got tired. No it isn't likely that he has seen 173 shots in four games. Harding's goalie has seen 157 shots in 7 games, including a shooting spree by LU.
I'll let you know after this weekend about the RHIT goalie.

The opponents MIGHT have shot that many times, but I think stats people don't realize it's a save unless it's on goal.
Remember, a lot of teams can barely get a scorekeeper at the game. If someone is keeping stats (outside of a squad like the U of Mich, which seems to have the best of everything) I wonder how skilled and experienced they are.

Western Illinois played RHIT about 3 weeks ago and we put up 15 goals. No disrespet to RHIT's goalie because he is a solid goalie. Also several of my teamates watched the RHIT/AUGIE game and that score was 4-3. So perhaps the number if shots is a bit high. On another note does anyone have any idea what is going on at Northern Illinois, I believe they have canceled several games... What is the reasons ?

cjwilhelmi - I play for Rolla. I watched most of the Augustana/RHIT game as well. The number of shots in both games wasn't very high against RHIT, and some of the shots could have been passes, but the RHIT goalie did make some quality saves.
EDIT: I was also near the scorer's table for the Aug/RHIT game. It seemed like it was the first time for the girl keeping the book, which may account for why the shot number is so high. She was definitely asking alot of questions when I was up there.

Against Harding
11 saves, 20 goals against, 35% save percentage
Don't get me wrong, they guy is good but the numbers are off in the previous games.

I'd say that (playing for the team) this is probably the most logical explaination. He's good, but there are only so many SHOTS (I say that knowing what a shot actually is) that a team can take. I have tried to impose that upon our stats keeper, but as it is my last year and I have pretty much turned the team over to the underclassmen, I really don't pay too much attention to stats anymore.
I'll make a point to once again explain what a shot is (i.e. not a cut-off pass, etc), so we'll see. As for the Harding game - what can I say --- probably the worst game that we have played (though we are appreciative for Harding taking us in -- they let us spend the night w/ the players as we drove the 8 hours down there and were supposed to play SEMO as well, but they dropped out of the league).
This year has been REALLY tough (games over quarter breaks and w/out most seniors on some occasions). Hopefully we can get our act together and make a good run here at the end of the season.
Best of luck to all teams and with a little sweat, I hope to see you all in the playoffs.

Our pleasure, just glad that you made the trip down.
