As a Minnesota convert (finally ditched the 301 area code for a 612 & my Maryland driver's License expires this summer), I must say that the HS Hockey Tourny is one of the tightest things I have experienced in MN. It is truly something I believe that no one who hasn't experienced it first hand can speak ill or otherwise of the event. For the week, it is the only thing anyone cares about and kids, adults and sportcasters alike are speaking of 16 year olds like they are professional athletes.
I really have no idea about any school in MN besides Roseville, Edina & STA and quit watching hockey when the Capitals traded Dino Ciccarelli... but for some reason I always tune in to watch these kids go at it.
So, on that note. Edina & STA, my uneducated picks

Not many teams that I usually root for in the AA tourney this year. Should still be fun to watch, always is. Sounds like Edina and STA are the favorites, but I usually like the underdog.
I'll say that unlike belichick and the pats (go eli!), Roseau will have a perfect season.
For the A tourney, I always like the Hilltoppers.

Is it possibly because Mickey and Teddy make you cheer for them?

Just got back from the AA champ game and am very, very impressed. First, I didnt expect Hill-Murray to even compete with Roseau, so seeing them v. Edina for the championship was a treat. I thought that HM had Edina the whole game, from puck drop to the final clear. The goal at the end of the 1st w/ .1 to play deflated Edina for the rest of the night.
Even though I was secretly rooting for HM, it was still the most entertaining hockey game I've seen in a while. It'll be fun to watch many of these kids playing next year. Edina will be tough next year with their solid returning lines
It was an amazing game, and it was a pleasure to watch. MN really does put on quite a HS hockey tournament.

Well, except that some parents ruined the girls tournament by suing, stating that they had to let the girls play at Xcel or it would be unequal treatment under Title IX. Instead of having a packed house at Ridder (but no one turned away) or even a lot of empty seats but a cozy setting at Mariucci, they now play at Xcel and it looks like no one came to the game.
