I'm not on the team anymore, so this has nothing to do with being disappointed--take what I say or leave it, and a long discussion about this won't get anyone anywhere--it'll just put more dead weight on these boards.

Maybe I should change my moniker.

No need to change your moniker. . .it was my oversight. I'm sorry you think the content on these boards is littered with unnecessary "fluff," but for many of us who want details on what took place during a contest, beyond just a box score . . .we enjoy this forum for those details.

Personally, I only subscribe for the pictures. Thanks Will.

My pleasure, Jason! Personally, I kind of enjoy most of this "dead weight," gives me something to do while I'm at "work."

And FYI, a moniker is a name or nickname (eg. Juergy, GrizLens, Dr. Jason Stockton). The small graphic that board members use to ID themselves is an avatar.

I'm sorry I offended the Whitman team or alum. I wanted to praise my players for their weekend, & because I was in a hurry, I didn't mention anything about Whitman, & for those of you at the game, there was plenty to mention. To even bring up the officials in this thread is ridiculous. UPS 11 penalties, WC 8. You had your chances in OT, and you weren't man down when the final goal was put in. A gilman clear was picked up by a UPS pole & we then countered up the field to get a 2 on 1 with the goalie. No slide came & a goal from about 8 yards was the end result. I guess it never crossed your mind to say good game, we'll get you next time. WC is a tough place to play, we came short handed, with 50 fans heckling us, & battled back from down 6-1 on the road to get the win. We earned it, don't try & take away from it. WC has 2 more tough games this weekend with CWU & WWU. They can get right back in the mix for a 1 or 2 seed with 2 wins this weekend.

As bad as the score was, Oregon was great. The only ones trying to score in the 4th were dpoles and goalies really, but what one wouldn't its their only real chance. We just do not know how to defend the fast break. We have not had a team pressure us on offence the way they did. Not prepared for that at all. Over half of their points were probably turn overs resulting in fast breaks. The few shots we had, we made real easy to save. We loved to aim at his chest and stick. Hoping we can have two more of our five injured players back. Its hard playing a team like Oregon with 14 guys. Can't wait to show how much we improve by this.

thats good to hear nylon, and im sure that loss will not leave the memory banks for a while (we've all been there)

as far as everyone else goes, this is supposed to be competetive college lacrosse we should get over this whole running up the score issue

the first half of the cwu-wwu game was a dog fight as expected. but wwu came out of halftime with something to prove, and they did just that. 5 unanswered goals by the viks in the 3rd quarter was enough to put the nail in the coffin. too many mistakes made by both team, but the big difference was that wwu capitalized on our mistakes, and we couldn't do anything when we had the chance. hats off to the wwu goalie, played a great game with a lot of great saves. a little bit different seeing noah on the midfield. good game and good luck on the rest of the season to the viks.

Nice post Nylon. I will totally take back my judgement regarding OU's pummeling. Sounds like most had a decent time playing the Grand Game.

Someone mentioned a monocle.

So, why did Mr. Peanut wear one?

I'm hoping for a punchline....... Why did Mr. Peanut wear a monocle?

I hope i never write on this thing again... its not really my kind of thing- BUT i think something should be said from the whitman side (aside from the furry and lovable ogre). UPS was fantastic sunday. really, they came back from a 5 goal deficit and won outright in an awesome OT game. their offense was sharp and their defense slowed down our offense dramatically (which is pretty good if i dont say so myself). no one can complain about that game, anything that goes into OT seems to me to be two very evenly matched teams; and i think that is what we had with whitman and UPS. both teams wanted the game and UPS pulled it off. Congrats UPS, that was the kind of college lax i hope to remember in fifty years. i look forward to the rest of this season- both our teams have a lot of promise for 2008.

Tater, thank you. I actually just received a PM from your furry saying the same thing. There's a great chance we'll see you again in the playoffs, maybe even the first round of the playoffs. WWU, WOU, & CWU are still the measuring sticks right now. You've got them next week, we'll see them the week after.
