Sounds familiar. I'm having flashbacks to 2000.

My apologies -- looking at the box score now, apparently BYU went up 6-0 aboutn 9 min into the game, then 6-1, then 7-1, before SFU started climbing back a bit more at end of 1Q. When I posted at half, I had thought I remembered the announcer saying 7-0 once, and another time saying BYU had been up by 7 at one point early in the game, perhaps I misheard. Apparently some confusion there, sorry for my likely transmission of slightly false info.

Both teams coaches were also involved in that game. I wonder how they felt.

Although it is an L a 6 goal loss to a top 5 team is respectable for a 20-25 team.

Good win for the Cougars! The BYU offense has been impressive so far, putting up big numbers after 4 games. I am very concerned with the amount of goals they are giving up though. Is it the defense or is Kikumoto struggling? I'm just curious to get the thoughts of those who have seen them play. I know they have faced some good offensive players at Chapman and Whittier but giving up 12 to Simon Fraser surprised me.
If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

It's a very good Simon Fraser team... I would say under-ranked at #24, especially after seeing them Sunday. They lost to BYU by the same spread that UCSB did... but a loss is a loss. They have plenty of OOC games to prove they deserve to be higher.

Anyone able to shed some light on BYU's defensive game?

Rumor has it if you're prepared to for and have the capacity to deal with their riding pressure and defensive pressure, you can generate good offensive looks.

No rumor there, Roger...that's the truth. It has to do with how everyone plays, though, and not just the D. I have a feeling that their goals against average will decrease through the year.

I was not impressed with BYU's defense or goalies last year. The difference between this years team and last years team is that teams can finally clear against them this year. But they still have the whole season to work that out.
