H.I.T. -- Unofficial All-Star Team

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Mon Mar 21, 2005 5:18 pm

I thought I'd compile an alphabetical list, by position, of the best performances this past week at the Husky Indoor Tournament. This is all personal, individual opinion and reflects no official voting or awards actually given. It leaves off some very good players who had big weekends -- but I had to choose, so here's my list:

Attack
#10 Danny Metoyer, Chapman
#18 Dane Reelie, Simon Fraser
#15 Eli Sonkin, Washington
#3 Tyler Tipton, Oregon State

Midfield
#17 Kevin Britt, Rhode Island
#11 Patrick Corrigan, Simon Fraser
#6 Matt Goto, Chapman
#4 J Meinhard, Oregon State
#13 Eric Weitz, Washington

Faceoff
#31 Michael Salter, Rhode Island

Long-Stick Middie
#20 Joel Schmit-Kallas, Chapman

Defense
#7 Kevin Bass, Washington
#2 Steve Carpenter, Oregon State
#4 Will Helmsley, Chapman
#7 Anthio Yuen, Simon Fraser

Goal
#13 Garrett Jacobs, Chapman
#1 Aaron Pascas, Simon Fraser

Stand-out High School Player
#17 Chris Taylor, Mercer Island (committed to Georgetown)

H.I.T. 2005 MVP
Metoyer -- Was the difference in both of Chapman's tourney wins. Six goals against UW and six more including the dramatic game-winner with seconds left to beat Fraser. Tremendous two-game performance by one of the best MDIA players.

Apologies to the deserving players left off this list, I tried to name the peak performers from my personal and admittedly biased perspective.

Are you talking Box lacrosse or just playing field indoor?

Regular old field lax, played inside a $29 million fieldhouse... c'mon Chris we had this same conversation six months ago, when Mines decided to leave the competition in this event "to the A guys"!

Here's a nice quote from Rhode Island's game report:

Oregon State ran away with this one, 12-6, ending URI's spring break trip to Seattle. The University of Washington men's lacrosse team did an incredible job hosting this invitaitional. The facilities, coordination, hospitality, and sportsmanship were second to none. This is a must do trip for anyone considering spring break travel. Great lacrosse and a great time!!
