Gurus' between polls poll

Postby LaxGuru on Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:14 am

These are the movements on the poll I have posted on page 2 of the 2nd poll release forum. I am still awaiting some scores which you will see next to the teams, once I get those the poll can change drmatically with a lot of top 25 head to heads involved.
***I will try to keep it up to date with current scores the best I can.

Starting with the leagues pre-season poll I've moved teams up& down, in& out based on wins and losses, and who they played NOT who they are!
Just my opinion!
1.CSU –Moves in after defeating UCSB
2.BYU –Ditto
3.Sonoma-
4.UCSB-
5.Mich-
6.Oak-
7.Ari-
8.Col –
9.V Tech-
10.BC-
11.UCSD-
12.Lindenwood-
13.FSU-
14.Pittsburgh-
15.Oregon-
16.Michigan State-
17.GT –
18.Miami (oh)
19.Minnesota-
20.Utah-
21.Chapman.
22.Chico-
23.Cal Poly –
24.Washington –
25.Minnesota-Duluth

Just outside
Georgia-loss to Illinois drops them out
Vanderbilt-beating from VT puts them on outside looking in.
Florida – was looking to put them in, but then they lose to Chico.

You do realize that Sonoma barely escaped from chico by putting one in the goal in the last 20 seconds to win 5-4 right?

I dont understand how you could have them outside the poll.

We'll see soon, but I don't believe it to be that far off...

That and the fact that Chico not only hasn't played Chapman more or less lost to them. . . .

They lost though right? They are 4-4. If their 4 losses were to top 6 ranked teams, I'd listen to that argument.
Chapman is 6-2 beating the same teams AND 1 team that Chico lost to, I'm not going to put them in out of familiarity, because they are "Chico" doesn't entitle them to a ranking. They are 4-4.

If you'd analyze the records a little you'd see that 2 of Chapman's wins came against Div. B teams, 1 win by 3 goals against SDSU who was Div. B last year, and a 2 goal win against almost winless Stanford. Not really all that impressive.

On the other hand, 3 of Chico's losses came to ranked teams, Oregon, Boston College & Sonoma. The other loss was to Div. 2 varsity team Notre Dame de Namur.

Chico got their ranking because they deserved it, not because they are Chico. Chapman's got their ranking the same way.

I think that the University of Utah deserves a lot higher ranking than 23. They have played tough against top teams this year.

agreed, how can one say that sonoma deserves a 2A and fail to recognize that Chico lost to that same team by one goal in final seconds of the game?

You want to compare an undefeated Sonoma team who knocked off Arizona, V-Tech and admittedly played horrible and still beat a then 4-3 Chico?
You guys must be "pollsters" for the MDIA, no wonder most people look at them as a joke.

Out of curiousity . . . . who looks at the polls as a joke? I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your poll, in fact I didn't even look at it, but that's a pretty childish response to some criticism.
Always on point . . .

Well, let's see...Washington should probably be in the top 5 then considering they destroyed Simon Fraser by 12. This Washington team is the very team that got killed by Chico 16-6 and barely beat Cal 10-9. I would venture a guess and say that Chico had a bad day against Simon Fraser coming off a tough 1 goal loss to Oregon the day before. Chapman beat a bad Stanford team (having watched them play UCSD on Saturday) by only two goals (at home no less). By the way, I noticed you have Cal Poly at 13. You are aware Chico beat them, aren't you? You also know that Cal Poly got spanked by Oregon at home right? The one quality opponent Chapman has played, they lost, so I really don't see how you can have them ranked ahead of Chico. Chico should and will be in the top 15 when the next poll comes out.
