You can't hype a team or a player after just one game. You are going to jinx them. Just ask Rope No Rope.

I will continue to hype my team all I want, I just can't help myself.

I just wish ASU had scheduled Chapman this year. Hopefully they meet in the playoffs.

I'd have to agree there. Listening to the announcers, they couldn't say enough about his play and the various tactics that BYU used to try and stop him (unsuccessfully). He won something like 75% - 80% of all the faceoffs, which in a 16-15 game was a very big number.

Agreed...Small was the MVP of that game. He won 26-32 face-offs and took 32 of the 33 face-offs in the game. And to make it more impressive, he was beating Neal Watterson, who was nearly 60% when you combine the UCSB and Whitter game (30-52).

The only time I've seen a great face-off man recognized was the 2006 World Games when Canada beat the US and Geoff Snider was named the MVP of the tournament.

Face-off specialist Scott "Turtle" Miller of Oregon was named the PNCLL's Player-of-the-Year in 2007.

Although you couldn't call him a face-off specialist, UCSB's Will Patton took the majority of the face-offs and mostly dominated in the 2 years that he was offensive MVP of the MCLA tourney.

and got owned in the championship game...

I'll admit i was excited to see him, but was utterly disappointed when he was dominated by the kid(s) from BYU last May.

Either way, i'll agree that Smalls should be the MVP... i guarantee that if BYU wins even 4-5 of those faceoffs they lost, the game goes at least to Overtime, if not a BYU victory

ya i guess it might have been a little early for me to be callin out an MVP of the year....it was one of those "i havn't seen him since high school and was really impressed by his level of play" kinda things.

MVP Who Cares

Postby SoCalLaxDoctor on Fri Feb 22, 2008 9:56 pm

Let me see 9 pts or 80% face off wins..........I would say Co-MVP's if that means anything. Honestly, Smalls was awesome, Marcus was just plain old NASTY. Let's see where they stand in May.
