After playing Central Washington on Saturday, Willamette decided they did not want to go to Bellingham to play Western Washington. Instead, while traveling through Seattle, the players found 15 homeless vagrants to play for them. Each player gave 14 homeless men and one tough homeless woman their gear and jerseys and sent them to represent the team. As payment we also gave each homeless person a cardboard box to provide housing and shelter for the next several months. The homeless played hard and displayed decent stick skills for having never played the game before. However, Western Washington would not be denied their 25 goal win, for it would give them ultra-power-boost for the rest of the season, and they pressed hard throughout to attain sweet victory. After the game, we fed the homeless a nice warm meal and thanked them for their services and sent them on their way, one cardboard box richer and a lifetime of memories happier.

Who writes that up for a game report? Were there really bums playing lacrosse, I would have loved to see that. They would have been asking for change while getting scored on.... wow. I love the professional write up.

I'm more impressed that all 15 homeless found time between panhandling and busking to carry 12 credits at Willamette.

Week #3 is complete, but many of the contests have not been updated with stats and game reports yet. Please, everyone, try to get caught up today so that Jason and I can write our weekly preview articles with the necessary info and so that the national database can reflect your guys' goals and assists. Also remember that your opposing coaches need these stats so that they can vote for all-PNCLL selections later this Spring too.

With all due respect Tyler, I think it's way too early to name a frontrunner. . .we need to see a few more games from each team.

I think that CWU proved this weekend they are as good as anyone and plan to be in this thing until the end. . .this weekend has a few very interesting games that will certainly tell us a lot about the season in front of us. . .namely the WWU vs. CWU and Whitman vs. UPS and PLU. With Coach Schmitz back in the mix in Walla Walla, you can never count those guys out. . .

All of that being said, I hope the poll voters from around the country were paying attention and CWU gets the love they deserve in this week's poll. I'm not a voter any more, but I would have to put CWU in the top-10 until they prove otherwise. . .with WOU also moving up after the big win over #9 WWU.

totally agree Jason... Central did a great job this past weekend, but all it really did was throw more teams into the mix instead of starting to separate the cream of the crop. I'm interested in seeing what happens on Whitman's trip this weekend as well as the CWU/WWU game. As far as the polls go, I think this is where you will start to see how poll voters will view the PNCLL this spring... knowing it will be very competitive the teams will either be seen as all very good or all very average. Personally, knowing the teams and what is on the line this season, I'd like to think that everybody has really stepped up their game and that the conference is strong nationally.

Top to bottom, I think the only league that competes with the PNCLL DII is the RMLC. . .but the OOC games won't lie, and we'll know more as the season progresses.

I just read Willamette's new write up of the weekend and while I enjoyed the bit of humor in their first write up, the new one kinda pissed me off. What was WWU doing with their starters playing and running up the score in the 2nd half? I'm sure they were bitter about their loss the day before, but that kind of a game doesn't do any good for anybody and shows a total lack of class on the part of the Vikings. I hope the kids at Willamette don't take that game to heart... keep working hard and you guys will keep getting better.

They only have four attackmen and four defensemen listed on their roster, that makes it tough to put in three second-string attackmen or defensemen when only one of each exists.

I apologize for the initial game report that seems to have incensed so many. It was not meant to be rude or disrespectful, rather to save me from writing about what actually happened which I found to be much more disrespectful to the league, Willamette University, and the players on my team.

The current game report is an exact description of the game as it played out, no exaggerations, no pulled punches. I am in possession of the carbon copy game report and will be saving it to show my team and future teams the way the game should not be spread. If my passion about this topic is confusing, just think about this: I have been a coach or an assistant for 4 years (I know that's really really short) but I have not been more unknowing of what to tell my players to do after a game than on Sunday. My players wanted to leave the field without shaking their hands after everything that took place, but I refused to let that happen. This was not a case of us "giving up", in fact the direct opposite. We played to the very end, and I can't be prouder of my guys for not walking off the field in shame, which is what I fear people wanted to see.

Again, I am not trying to make Willamette a joke, or an enemy, or anything of the sort. I am simply trying to give students the opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse and enjoy playing it. If that is too unclassy then I will stop doing it.

I don't think you need to apologize Will, you're doing a really good job. I also understand about not having the depth to take out your starters, but it doesn't mean you have to keep attacking the cage... perfect your stall, work all your plays through without taking a shot, whatever... scoring just to score (which is certainly what it looks and sounds like) is pointless and rude.

I just checked out pncll.com and the results for this past weekend based on some of the comments on this forum. It looks like Div II is wideopen ready for whoever wants it the most. It is still only Feb so there are 2 months of lax still to be played.

Note: WWU list Noah Symington as scoring a goal vs WU. Not sure if that is right or not as far as I led to believe he was not playing this year or at least did not play the first couple of Viking games.

The rumors are obviously true that Noah is playing, just not between the pipes. He did not play vs. WOU. . .but he had been at practice during the week and obviously saw his first minutes on the field on Sunday.

I would like to thank the gentleman from Montana for memorializing in such a clear and concise fashion everything that I have wanted to say since I first read the WWU/Willamette game score.

Why is it too early to say that? Everyone else was saying the WWU and WOU game was the game to watch to see who the frontrunner was in D2. WOU won pretty big, than got beat by CWU. I think CWU deserved some props and from what I've heard they are legit. Beating a good WOU who just beat WWU by 10+ proves that.
