Chapman is legit and thanks in large part to the Oregon boys migration south (Connor Martin, Spencer Halvorsen, Mike Clayton, and Nate Beres). All from the same high school I might add as well (Lakeridge HS). I'm sad to see they didn't stay in-state but it sure sounds like they are killing down south in the sunshine. Keep it up boys. Congrats on the huge win.

The BYU box score has attendance listed at 2,500. Is that accurate? What a great setting that must have been.

What I thought I heard on the webcast was that the stands held closet to 2,000 and there were over 300 more in standing room only...

Don't know, the stands were small but PACKED. There were a TON of people all up and down the sideline (SRO and not a lot of that, on the "track" and along the edge of the field near the stands, opposite from the benches) as well, and there was a little dining area set up just to one side of the stands where there were some tables and the main P.A. system set up; didn't look, but I'd guess there were a bunch of folks in there for the game as well. Do we know what kind of attendance NCAA games in this part of the country get? I'd venture to say it may not compare. BYU-Whittier today will of course not get anywhere near that (after all, it's "only" a club team). Last Whittier game I remember right off (2004, when BYU beat them) there were maybe 50 folks at a crummy little field...but it's "Varsity".

A great game (Chapman-BYU, I mean...), could easily have gone either way. Gonna be a great season...

The small stands are temporary while the new stadium is being built - due to be finished in the fall. They probably hold a few hundred max. The other 2000 screaming fans were a mixture of at least a half dozen jr high and hs teams, CU and BYU fans, and 80+ CU player parents and families who attended a pre-game tailgate. The atmosphere was incredible.

A lot of guys from the Cal State Fullerton team were there, along with UVSC in their warm-ups. Wouldn't be surprised at 2000+

I think I was actually standing near DG - I heard some guys with BYU gear on talking about Danville and I just saw that was his location a second ago - if it was you DG, it was nice to almost meet you.

wow...Colorado must be gritting their teeth. their 3 best freshman from last year leave and all contribute, in a big way, to Chapman beating BYU. Thats rough. Great win for Chapman though. What is the RMLC supposed to be like this year??

Things in Boulder have been pretty quiet. Much shorter schedule this spring, didn't play any real fall-ball games. Obviously, they had a handful of CA kids transfer. They did pick up a few very good high school kids from Colorado. Based on their posted roster, they are very young.

CSU is CSU...they won a scrimmage yesterday against one of the better men's league teams in Denver. Attack has some new faces...DI and DIII transfers. I'm trying to go see them on Saturday against Colorado College. They might not have the big gun like Bird or Stevens, but I'm sure they will be fine.

BYU is good. They will be fine.

Utah has red uniforms...that's all I know about them.

Oaks, that was probably me. I was wearing a white Y hat, and a blue collared BYU shirt. We were right about the 20 yard line on the left side of the field. We sat down on the ground there with a blanket, and the first thing my 8 year-old said to me was "Dad, don't embarrass me." My response? "Don't worry...I will!" If you were anywhere near me, you would have known it. I'm very vocal in support of the Cougs...and occasionally I will let an official know if I think he missed a call.

I was talking to some BYU guys close by, and also the dad of one of the Chapman attackmen from Oregon. #99 I think. Despite the result, it was a great game to be at.

Maybe I'll see you around next time, Oaks!
