Very hard fought by K-State. They came within 1 goal within the final
2 minutes but SMS scored 2 goals late in the final minutes to go up by 3. Good battle.

In all fairnes to Andrew complaining about Kyle' gamesmanship, he is also pretty hard on his own team.

I attended the fall ball game this year, he was pretty critical and vocal
during the game of SMS play. Choose a pretty good Captain I think.

Don't feel alone. If you look on the other conference boards, we took a couple on the chin for running up the score. In fact, one comment was made that it was "a Missouri thing" including all of us.

I can honestly say we did not go out of our way to run up the score in either of our games this weekend. Everyone that was healthy played and played quite a bit. It is by no means my intention to do anything like that.

I've been on the wrong end of several games like that and know exactly what it's like.

Wash U ran 17 guys this weekend due to injuries and academic committments. This factored into the Texas Tech result where we ran out of gas and Marquette result due to the fact that I was playing everyone! We had to hold the ball for the last 10 minutes of the game against Marquette.

Last year we lost to CSU 22-1 and they were running their 3rd and 4th string guys. The term classless did not cross my mind when the game was over. Outmatched did.

As having watched a few of Lindenwood's lopsided wins, I know that they get all of their players in, and every goal comes after at least 4 passes, and I assume the same is true for Wash U and Mizzou and any team that wins big. I was just pointing out the fact that people only tend to criticize Mizzou when this happens. I know it's impossible to tell a kid that pays the same dues as everyone else but hardly sees the field to go out there and just hold the ball. And when you throw in the fact that LaxPower rankings tell a team that they are supposed to win by x amount of goals, especially when that number is over 20, teams have no choice but to run up the score. I think those rankings are unnecessary and take a lot of the sportsmanship out of the game, although I don't know any good way to try to compare two teams that don't play eachother other than scores against the same opponent. I, personally, don't see any difference in a 16-2 win and a 22-2 win and I wish LaxPower would institute a 12 goal or so maximum spread.

Coach Bifulco and Hood,

It was never my intent to call either Wash U. or Lindenwood classless. I apologize that that's how my original post came off. I know that both Lindenwood and Wash U. have very respectable, classy, solid programs and they both represent the GRLC very well. Like I stated earlier, I fully understand the many reasons lopsided scores end up the way they do. I was just pointing out the general hypocrisy that sometimes runs rampant on this board. Again, I apologize.

I know what it feels like to have the score run up on you by a team coming from a highschool who was likely for most people to make four consecutive passes. But also in terms of the whole mdia-a, it is when you have your third and fourth lines in that proves that your program is here to play. Look at CSU as well as some of the other 1-9 ranked teams, there third and fourth lines play to win as how all lines should. But there should never be any doubt in anyones mind about the score being ran up. Unless you are there to see the team keep their starters in then there really isnt room for comment in my eyes. No offense to anyone on that by the way.

Laxpower does have a limit on how point spread effects their rankings. They call it their "Ten Goal Limit Correction." You can see it on all of the individual team pages. Nobody uses Laxpower's rankings for anything other than entertainment anyway. If anyone is actually looking at Laxpower's predicted goal differential as a measure of how they should do, then they've got a lot more problems than poor sportsmanship.

Thanks for the info, John Paul. I'm glad they have the "10 goal limit correction", and I'm also glad that no one takes the LaxPower rankings seriously.

Marquette has certanily dropped off quite a bit. My sophmore year, they almost beat Michigan and people were screaming bloody murder when they did not make the tourney and Tennessee did (Tenn played a much stronger schedule).

Wisconsin high school lax is still in its infancy, but I think Marquette draws students from all over the MidWest.

As I look at Marquette's roster, I only recognize 4-5 names from the team we played in 2003. I know they were very young last year and it looks like they're still a little young. If they keep it together, the next couple of years could be better for them.

That's what I thought. They always seemed very competitive in the CCLA before the GRLC was founded, then I lost track of them. They had many good players and were always fun to play against, even when it was exceptionally cold and windy playing on that field right next to Lake Michigan. Hopefully, they'll get back to that point in a few years, even though the CCLA seems to get increasingly better every year.

Marquette has dropped a lot in recent years. My freshmen year, they were 8-0 and didn't make St. Louis because they only scheduled one out of conference game. They also beat us 15-2.

Four years later, during my senior year. We beat them 14-6 and the talent level of Iowa my senior year was equal if not slightly less then my freshmen year.
