Looks like Cal Poly got out of the AZ desert with a split beating the Arizona Laxcats by a goal 8-7. Two 1-goal games against those teams on their turf is a pretty decent result.

Obviously I'm a little biased, but I would say that's better than just a decent result. Splitting two in Arizona is a pretty big statement from this year's Cal Poly squad. A win over Arizona after playing ASU the night before (and no game for Arizona) is especially impressive.

I'm not there and I haven't talked to Coach Myers so I haven't heard anything about the games, but I think they've got to feel pretty good about the trip. The schedule is brutal this year, so it's not going to get any easier - up next is UCSB followed by Sonoma and then Northeastern.

Def. didn't see that coming after the games that USC had already played.

Chapman has definitely proven they are the team to beat so far in the WCLL. I must admit I was a skeptic, but after listening to that game and talking to people who were there to watch the game, Chapman seems to be the real deal. I congratulate them on a huge win and thank them for repping the WCLL against the RMLC. Now lets see if they can take this show on the road.

Chapman is definitely for real. I'm sure lots more will be said; this was top-flight lacrosse, faceoffs were key, I think they out-hustled BYU a bit, won the transition-possession game, and there's definitely talent and firepower. But it was also a delight to be there; team, fans, and field were great. Many thanks and kudos, looking forward to watching the rest of the season. and a potential rematch.

Congrats Chapman!
A great win and a nice performance by Wooden (6g, 3a)

Any word on PLU/Nevada from yesterday or today's SOU/Nevada Game?

Nevada won both games- 14-8 vs PLU and 10-8 vs. SOU. They were a class act all the way and it's nice to see that Andy has that team going in the right direction, except that it was at our expense.

I think Cal beat UCLA today 13-5. I snagged some very unprofessional photos with my camera and possibly a couple videos. I will try to get something up tonight.

Its always interesting to see how teams that get a lot of hype on the message boards back it up on the field. Sometimes the buzz is well deserved and other times its just the chatter of optimistic alumni and fans. This weekend we had an example of both.

Chapman was able to back up all the hype with their big win against the defending national champions in what sounded like a great game. On the other hand USC, another team that has been talked about a lot on this message board, was not able to back it up on the field. They suffered two big losses to Stanford and Washington and barely beat Oregon State.

Just an observation....

Thats because USC really is the new Chapman (circa 2005), while Chapman may now be the new Oregon..... Perhaps the USC players will stay off the message board and stay on the practice field?

Sorry for the crappy quality of these videos. They were taken with my digital camera and the original files look nice on my computer but were like 30-50 MB so I found some program to decompress them a bit and I think I did them too much, causing the quality to be bad. Anyways....

Videos 1-3: UCLA on offense

Video 4: Cal scores a goal

Video 5: Cal scores a behind-the-back goal
