Missouri State plays at 2:30 am, 11:30 pm and 2:00 am respectively... is that legal?

John,

The scheduling of these games was not under my control, but I'd like to apologize none the less. To be honest, I'd not seen Missouri States brutal schedule until just now.

Domes are at a premium at this time of year up here. There was some major confusion with the schedulers, that was remedied, but at a clear cost to the teams involved.

I'm taking coffee orders from officials and coaches already. We're hoping to have some fun with it in a Midnight Madness kind of way, and someday will laugh about the absurdity of the situation. It's going to be a long night\day\night for everyone involved.

There was a long thread in the UMLL section that discussed this in detail if you're interested.

Look at the bright side. You don't really need a hotel room because you won't be using it :D

Actually, it does kinda suck, but it will be kinda fun too. You know once the game starts, you probably won't even know what time it is. Plus, last time I checked most college students are going to be much before 3:00 on a Friday/Saturday anyway

Enjoy the games.

This schedule begs a few questions, ones that may have never been asked before by a lax team, like...
How do you coach a sleeping schedule?
What will it be like getting 25 hot sweaty people on a bus at 4am to drive 10 hours back home?
Can you use a coach bus bathroom to shower in?

Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion to these mind bottling situations...

In all seriousness we look forward to playing in a dome and getting to make the trip up to Minne-soh-ta. It should be a lot of fun.

Midnight Madness

Postby madfloww on Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:41 pm

It is great to have GRLC teams coming up here to play. I am looking forward to seeing Missouri St. this weekend and Kansas next weekend. Hopefully we can get some better dome times in the future.

I am very excited to see how all of the teams involved fair in the late hours of the night. Good Luck to all.

That is insane. Sorry we couldn't make a fun schedule like that for you guys down there in Ole Miss, we will try to sometime in the future, out of good humor of course.

Oh Next time the Huskers will be in Oxford.... trust me we like our day games down here

If we had that schedule there would have no fans... it cuts into the time you spend in the square

And the fact that Ole Miss is the #2 party school in the country (last I heard) doesn't hurt too much either :D

I actually offered to go up and ref these games cause I had the same initial thinking too!!

It's definitely a defining moment for a story to start... "when I was a kid..." in the distant future!
