I saw the hit on Austin and he left the game dragging his left arm...a few minutes ago they had a shot of him on the bench with ice on the shoulder.
Any thoughts on Wednesday's game against UCSB?? I haven't seen them this year, but BYU better have a little more life in the first half or it could be a long afternoon.

8-4 final. Very disappointing effort by Colorado. They only have two midfield lines and they are good at keeping the ball on the outside, but what's the point if you aren't going to attack once in awhile? Very curious strategy against a solid BYU team that played pretty well. Jason Anderson scored on two cuts on EMOs for CU, but was otherwise non-existent. Kasaii played a nice game, but obviously he can't score goals. BYU played very well, but like CLM said, not the same type of fire as they had against CSU.
Always on point . . .

My thought is that CU will have a tough time with UCSB's defense. I don't see them being able to score more than 5 goals against the Gauchos unless something drastic happens to change the CU offense. It's looking more and more that Brittain's abscence will not be a factor for the Gauchos.
For BYU, I think they have a pretty good shot at UCSB if they continue to win face-offs. Keep a close eye on the Patton/Bateman matchup at the 'x'. The Cougars have the players to win this game, but will need a solid team effort to pull it out. As for the goalies, both have played well in all three of the games that I have seen. Powers will be very good and Machecknie is solid. I don't like splitting time, as I've said before, but I don't think you could go wrong with either of these guys. My thought would be to give the job to Machecknie because of his experience. What will BYU do when Kikumoto returns next year? Machecknie is a junior so will we see another instance of time-splitting??
All that being said, I like UCSB by five against CU and in a very tight one against BYU.

If you look up the definition of lackluster in the dictionary, you'd see a picture of this game. BYU had no intensity at all, but really didn't need it. CU just did nothing of interest at all in the game. It was not pretty.
You can understand BYU's lack of firepower with the number of injured guys they have. It will be an uphill road for them without Davis, Monteath & Austin. I'm betting that Austin has a separated shoulder. The way he reacted when it happened makes me think that. Let's hope that it is not the case.
Colorado needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to mount some offensive pressure. BYU wasn't doing anything fancy defensively, but CU seemed to have trouble findning seams. UCSB's defense is better than BYU's, in my opinion, so it is apparent that they need to change something. Bailey (sp?) was a complete non-factor today.

ugly game to watch. BYU has to start drinking some Red Bull or something. A flat start again next week and they will be looking at a comeback from a pretty deep hole-a no no against the Gauchos. CU had chances and could have made it interesting, but they couldn't seem to find the net-or the put it right in the keeper's stick. Is it me or it seems like CSU and UCSB seems to be separating themselves from the pack... those two, then a pack of 5-6 ( mich, Arizona, Cu, Noma, etc.) then the rest, and I mean the rest literally. From 8 or 9 down , anyone can beat anyone. Anyone else see it this way (to think about it, i guess the MDIA has kind of shaped up that way for the past couple of years).

BYU was definitely lacking the same fire that they showed against CSU earlier in the week, there is no denying that. I think that several on here criticizing their performance against CU need to remember that they did win by 4 goals and held CU to only 4 goals. You also need to realize that 2 starting attckmen were not in the lineup and a starting O-mid went down early in the game. You figure that's half of your starting offense right there, any team will struggle with those circumstances. 6 second half goals and basically shutting down CU was nice.
Now after all that, if they play like that on Wednesday against UCSB then it will be a long day. The Cougars must learn to play the same every game, not up or down to the competition they are playing. Having such a young team leads to that. As they mature they need to get over that hurdle. It's a busy week for the Cougars, 3 games in 4 days. Good way to get ready for Blaine

If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

From what I hear Davis and Monteath are day to day. Probably won't know for sure until game time itself. BYU will need those 2 so let's hope for the best.

I've been informed that I've been spelling Glenn Makechnie's name wrong. I apologize Glenn. Now that I know the correct spelling, it's actually much easier to type. . . .

Names
Don't feel bad, Alex. I have a few on my roster which would drive a journalist crazy:
Mertzlufft, Roidopoulos, Pfleegor, Sivcovich, Politowski, Giaminetti......
Proof reading; painful, but necessary.
