Might have to leave the PAC-10 Tournament early to catch that BYU-Chapman game!
Should be an amazing game...Chapman is one of the best teams I have ever seen in the MCLA!

"Chapman is one of the best teams I have ever seen in the MCLA!"
my guess is that you probably haven't seen much of the MCLA then....
Should be an interesting week with BYU heading into Cali... i get a feeling they're going to pick-up where they left off last year, although i think both UCSB and Chapman may give them a pretty good run for their money[/quote]

We all know that Chapman has tons of talent but they have also been over hyped the past few years. With teams like NOMA 02 undefeated in the MDIA, UCSB back to back National Championships, and thats just WCLL not to mention CSU and BYU lets wait for Chapman to make the WCLL finals or the MDIA final four before we include them in this group.

How about Chapman making nationals? I can't say for sure, but i would guess they haven't even been to nationals and they didn't even make the WCLL Tournament either of the last two years...
Not trying to hate on Chapman (well maybe a little bit), yet despite all the "all-world" recruiting classes they've been putting together for the last 3-4 years, they still have just about nothing to show for it. And unfortunately W's are the only things that count in this fantastic league of ours.

First let me say i am no chapman supporter, and yes i know they were ineligible last year for the playoffs.....
but if "unfortunately W's are the only things that count in this fantastic league of ours" chapman did pretty well last year. They went undefeated in the most difficult division in the WCLL, and oh, you must have forgot about this http://www.uslmdia.org/game.cfm?conferenceid=6&divisionid=1&seasonid=3&gameid=2370

Oh i remember it all too well, but it was just one game, and a game with no meaning in the standings to either team at that point. Yes, it is a rivalry game and yes, Chapman dominated that game, however, this once again is the tale of their recent history.
Exhibit A : http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferenceid=6&divisionid=1&seasonid=3&gameid=2380
They also were blown out by every other highly ranked team...
In order to be at the top, you have to compete with the top, and one "good" W on the season doesn't change that. But hey, maybe this is the year when they finally live up to their self-professed hype... i'll believe it when i see it

is 12-10 a blowout these days?
CSU by 13
Oregon by 8
those are blowouts...
but hey they went undeafeated in conference, blewout UCSB at the end of the season ( by 8 ) and played a number of ranked teams to a goal or two
maybe we should admit they are a dangerous team?

I think he was talking about some of the other scores from the season, not that I want to really back up a UCSB guy. But just for an example like the game against Oregon where they lost by 8

good to see the chapman hype machine is in full effect already this year just two games in. annointing chapman as one of the best teams in the MCLA just because they ran UCLA and LMU doesnt make them legit.
as for last year here are some links:
http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferencei ... ameid=2457
but this happened?
http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferencei ... ameid=2380
and this happened
http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferencei ... ameid=3241
then this happened
http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferencei ... ameid=2573
and finally
http://www.mcla.us/game.cfm?conferencei ... ameid=2370
stop talking about last years games, who cares. stop relieving the glory days and making excuses high heat. the gauchos havent done squat this year, 9-7 vs. USC?? Chapman has beaten UCLA and LMU. Sorry buffalo bill but any team can look like the MCLA's best against this year's Bruin squad.
lets just let this week speak for itself. BYU will be the first true test for these two teams. come thursday and saturday the light of the mormons will reveal the truth about the wcll LA division.

Now I think this weeks other games will be slightly overshadowed by #1 BYU coming to SoCal. But there are several other games that will mean a lot for the season.
The top LSA team, Texas A&M, will be making a trip to NorCal. For some reason, they have scheduled three consecutive games. I would be surprised to see them win more than one game. Davis has always been a favorite of mine. SCU had a good showing against Sonoma last week. And Sonoma is always the top team in the north. Expect this games to come into play later in the season when Texas A&M is trying to make a push for nationals.
The other two big games are during Cal Poly's trip to Arizona. I know when I was playing, I hated going to Arizona. Maybe not ASU, but Arizona is a really tough place to get a win. With ASU looking to be a tough team this year, Cal Poly should be happy with one win or two close games.
As far as the BYU games go, expect Chapman to win by 1000 and UCSB to win by 1001.
