UCSB - 9
Cal - 7
Cal came roaring out of the gate with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes, but the Gauchos took over the game from that point logging 7 unanswered goals to lead 7-3 at the half. The second half play was very sloppy by both teams, as you would expect from early season games.
UCSB got 4 goals from Brendan Sindell and Cal got 4 from Cameron Sampson.

Nice win by the Aztecs over Chico. Was this more the result of a big improvement by SDSU this season, or a let down by the Wildcats after the close loss at Poly? Or maybe a little of both?

I didn't happen to see the game, but I expected SDSU to be a lot better this year. With the changes in their coaching staff, I think they have a lot of potential to be better. It has always baffled me as to why they haven't been more successful. They are located in one of California's hotbeds for lacrosse. The school is relatively easy to get into. And the women are gorgeous.

SDSU is not that easy to get into, and everyone else and their brothers are recruiting in our backyard and for some reason, most players don't want to go to school and live at home, but we are working on improving that, absolutely correct about the coeds. About the game, it was a hard fought game in a driving horizontal rain.

That played a major role in where I went to college.

Hold on a second, you guys actually do play in the rain? I remember having games canceled on us for there being a light sprinkle. Did schools finally wise us and go to turf fields?
