Not that one goal really makes a difference in this situation, but the Nwestern score was 22-1. Or thats at least what the score board read as the buzzer sounded.

And man let me tell you, two back to back games is definately not one of my favorite ways to kill a Saturday.

how did dordt and northwestern look? I guessing by the score Northwestern was a bit rusty for their first game of the season, but the dordt game looks like it was better. Anyone have any comments on either?

Northwestern was a little lost, they didn't have a coach and it looks like they lost some talent from last year. Not much else to comment on, as the score shows it was very one sided all game

Dordt Looked pretty solid, Offensively they struggled to get quality shots and didn't really have a really goos shooter. They looked decent on the defensive side, playing our second game in a row took a toll on us so we were not as effective as we would have liked to have been and really tried to control the clock and shorten the game with long possessions. Also hit the post a lot in this game which lead to a lower score, with credit to their D for limiting our shot opportunities. If they can find a scorer on O they will be a threat to a lot of the D 2 teams

The ball was on our offense the whole game against NW, so i can really only speak of their defense. They ball watched a ton, and did not pressure the ball out any where near the box, so if ball possesion is the name of the game then you should be able to do so with ease.

With Dordt, It was not a close game. The first quarter was the usual hard hitting meathead fest that usually encompasses our annual game with them. After that we started to play OUR game and then maintained a 5 goal lead pretty much the rest of the game. Our problem was playing two back to back games with a limited roster. Also, the ref's made a mistake (which they admitted to) with a dead ball whistle which took a goal away from us, and Dordt scored a last second goal on a man up which, the shot went no where near the cage but hit my buddy in the helmet and took a b line towards the goal. Dordt has a rather large team this year (of about 30-32?) so they can definitely use their numbers against the B Div teams. Bottom line, They're BIG, their pretty fast, they have the numbers but dont have very solid stick handling. So just play your game and dont let them take you out of YOUR game with their hitting and you should be fine.

TJ/Dan
How did you find playing with the new F/O and 10 second count rules?

I think many of us are curious to see how the games play out with these changes.

I actually liked them. The new infraction rule on the face offs i see breeding straight up FO GOs, since any infraction on the wings or on the face leads to the face off man on the infraction team leaving the field of play; thus making you loose a valuable player, if your face off man is also a strong offensive threat. The ten count starting right as the ball leaves the plane of the box sped up the game i thought, kept from having long ground ball scrums. I also like it because it will start getting defenses to start pressuring a little farther out thus speeding up the tempo of the game and making it a little more intense and exciting for the viewers. When the game first started there was still a little lag time from when the infraction took place to when the play actually began, it was a little confusing for both sides, but once we got used to the rules the game flowed really well.

Colonel Reb is going to Lincoln

This game is important to the Ole Miss program, because it will show the league that this team can travel 14 hours in a bus show up and play two games with a full squad. In addition prove that Ole Miss Lacrosse is not a joke

Coach McCreery,

I think you might have a bit of a reputation to overcome (fair or otherwise) before any kudos come your way. Here's to hoping the third time (in the USLIA/MCLA) is the charm for Ole Miss Lacrosse.

BTW, a number of MCLA teams travel that far for conference games. It's a big step. I hope you succeed and continue the momentum throughout the entire season.

Just lookin at their roster....it should be a good game. They're bringing a squad of 40, with several solid players from my Northern V-a stompin grounds. Lookin forward to 4 quarters of straight hard nosed lacrosse.

Ole Miss Rebels: 6
Nebraska: 2

The rebels were man up quite a bit and did not capitalize on these situations. The nebraska goalie played really well. Rebels D played solidly against Nebraska eliminating several opportunities. I would say goalie play was solid on both teams. Rebels look to be much improved over last year.

Creighton 9
Ole Miss 2

Mississippi was penalized 3 times for illegal sticks (pulling 2 goals off the board) and Creighton failed to score on each of those man-up opportunities.

Score was 7-2 at halftime and Creighton added 2 more man-up goals in the last 5 minutes of the game.

Both goalies played very well.
