Are any teams dealing with horrible weather? We've gotten like six inches of snow in the past two days!

I know this is not at all groundbreaking for most regions out there, but it was snowing at our practice tonight in Salem. Ended up with about a half inch or so on the turf, not much but pretty weird for this elevation, pretty much at sea level. Had a kid ask me if it snows here alot and had to let him down softly.

A little worried about crossing the Siskiyous next weekend to get to Cali, our school's rugby squad wrecked a rental van down there last weekend so the leering eye of campus safety and school administrators is upon us.

-21 on the car's thermometer this a.m. on the way to work. With the wind chill it says its down around. A 61 degree difference in outside temp in less than two days!

I did find it a little humorous when they said Chicago braces for the cold on one of the weather channels...and its 1 above zero...

School Closed

Postby Shawn Carman on Wed Jan 30, 2008 12:07 pm

They closed all of the schools in the Boise and surrounding areas today because of the snow and terrible road conditions. Elementary, Jr. High, High Schools, the only school that was not shut down was Boise State.

That hursts guys, really :(

No weather issues here in Seattle now. It's sunny and a pleasant 88 degrees today. 8)

So maybe you eastern teams might want to consider switching our upcoming games at WSU, UI and BSU to here at U-Dub? Let me know and I'll try to reserve our fields and even buy SPF 40 sun-block for your entire entourages...

I think we have about 2' of snow on the ground with another 5-7" tonight...

The main school district, which never closes, has been closed for 3 days now. The last time it was closed was in 1996 or 1997, I believe.

Temps aren't too bad...still around a high of 28 or so...

Does that mean you're decked out in these beauties right now, Dan?

I've got almost 2 feet of snow at my house in suburban Vancouver right now. Good thing SFU is starting off on the road....

I'm not so sure if it's a good thing. You might feel right at home when you see the snow here in Moscow and Pullman.

We're all bracing for more tonight and tomorrow and hoping for a warm week to follow.

Our plow was broken I guess so we get to practice outside tonight for the first time this week. We have had to do chalk talk and just run inside the last couple of nights.

We had our first outdoor practice today. Since lacrosse has to share the same indoor space with baseball, softball, soccer, frisbee, and rugby, we've gotten used to the 9pm practice times.

We only had 3 inches of snow and about an inch of ice on the grass today, so traction wasn't too bad. Ground balls were hilarious, though.

CWU has yet to hold a practice outdoors. We have had at least 6" of snow and ice on the ground since winter break. The school will not help us plow a field for use so we are stuck practicing indoors 4-5 days per week.

Not only is CWU plagued by inclement weather but, because of it, our first two home games will have to be relocated to the sunny Seattle side of the mountains... So much for the home field/game advantage. And yes, for those interested, this happened last year and accordingly a request was made to the league in the fall to delay our home games to the end of February or March...
