How about the brew pub below the convention center at 10pm-ish?

I'm game. You guys thinking Friday night?

Yes, Mr. Shrek - I didn't see you all day! It was nice meeting some of the Collegelax crew at the convention - Shrek, Zeuslax, the coaching staff of the SCAD Bees (lacrosse will never fly there!) and our fearless leader Sonny! Bighead Todd was nowhere to be found on Friday evening after promising to show.
I enjoyed myself this weekend, I've got an early flight out tomorrow (6:15 AM - eek!) and hope to see more of you in Baltimore next year.
The big wrap-up to the weekend was a family-style dinner with 10 referees at one table. THAT would be stimulating conversation for the rest of you!
Safe travels and have a successful season implementing the new rules and mechanics.

Good to meet some of you guys. If the SCAD guys weren't such chatty Cathies I may have had the chance to actually talk with some of you.

Sonny, thanks....I woke up the next day and had 46 College Lax stickers in my room and one on my sweater.

Sadly, situations arose that prevented my attendance, and I was in bed by 8pm that night. On thursday I did have a bizzare sleepwalking experience, though......

Good to see some old friends and make some new friends as well!

I hadn't been to the convention in over 5 years. It really has become a great event with tons to see and do. If you are a coach or an official, you should go ahead and make plans to attend next year in Baltimore.

One big thing, who else noticed that there was no STX booth at the vendor village? Word on the street is they are trying to cut costs, and told USL that they felt they didn't need to have a presence in the vendor village seeing as they were the main sponsor at the IMCLA clinic...... just waiting for the other shoe to drop.....

Noticed that about STX too. I believe the IMCLA convention was mostly college coaches versus the USL convention being more H.S. and youth oriented. Interesting.

I talked with a few vendors off the record and they all kinds of expressed the same thing - they are tired of the entire convention scene. The event is expensive, there is too much competition, and not enough bank for your buck.

The problem for vendors is the timing. They're not going to secure that huge team order in January. They can extablish relationships for the following season, but there's not a lot of immediate reward.

For some you would be surprised. There was more than a few guys complaining about the numbers that expect to do business at the convention. Granted they were from the stick and protection side.

As a vendor, your options for getting before a large audience are very limited. Outside of the USL Convention, you might have the coaches convention and putting up a display at the Final Four. What other real options are there?
