I tell you what this loss says... Auburn is the TRUE sleeper in the SELC right now  . They are sitting pretty at 3-5 looking very weak to future opponents. With their OOC schedule hurting their overall ranking and if they beat the remaining upcoming SELC games....like your almamatter and your current squad... they should be in the playoffs with even one loss out of the three.

true that their most damaging losses are OOC and they can still make the playoffs. I hadn't previously examined the conference standings. (they are 2-1) They will have to beat 2 of the 3 Florida teams to get in the playoffs. Best of luck to them.

A few things I have noticed:

Simon Fraser seems fairly over-ranked. I understand that they have had some good early wins, (Beat Oregon [7-5], beat Chico [10-6?]) but the emphasis has to be on early. Teams have grown with time, and recently they got beaten pretty badly by Washington [14-2], and Cal Poly SLO [14-3] and recently lost a close game to an unheard of Loyola Marymount [15-14]. In my humble opinion, this should put them in dangerous territory for the next poll. Either upper 20s or off the poll entirely.

Chico State on the other hand seems to have really come together as a team. A one goal loss [5-4] to Sonoma where the last goal for Sonoma came with 20 seconds left while it was tied 4-4. They've beat Florida [13-9], beat Stanford [16-7], beat Cal Poly SLO (see above) [9-6]. I think Chico is underrated pretty heavily.

Lindenwood University seems like a good solid team, but I still dont understand how they could jump from unranked to 15th without a top ten win. The win against Minnesota-Duluth seems legitimate, but Minnesota-Duluth is ranked 21, and they only beat them by one. I'm not saying Lindenwood shouldn't be ranked, but that just seemed like a huge jump in their rank based on a lot of hype. That being said, they have done nothing recently that states they shouldnt be in the top 20.

Arizona should slip a LITTLE with a 12-1 loss to Michigan. Emphasis on little.

What's up with Oakland these days? Sitting pretty at #9...

I guess I dont Envy the jobs of the voters as there is a lot of homework to be done, but Chico is definately a team that has caught my intention as one that should get a few more votes, I would put them at #9-13.

Just my $0.02

Just for fun, since the more games that are played, the more relevant it is, here are the laxpower ratings...

1 Colorado State
2 Michigan
3 UC Santa Barbara
4 Colorado
5 Brigham Young
6 Boston College
7 Sonoma State
8 Virginia Tech
9 Chico State
10 UC San Diego
11 Florida State
12 Utah
13 Cal Poly SLO
14 Arizona
15 Minnesota - Duluth
16 Oakland
17 Oregon
18 Washington
19 Lindenwood
20 Indiana
21 Chapman
22 Miami - OH
23 California
24 Georgia Tech
25 Florida

Can anyone see any major discrepancies?

Absolutely. Sonoma & Arizona are way underranked. Colorado & Boston College are overranked due to their not playing enough games yet. Cal does not belong anywhere near the rankings. Those are the obvious ones. The rest of the teams belong but not in the order they have them. Other than that. . . .

Ever think you may be west coast biased and BC is not over rated...everyone said FSU and Oregon would be the big shockers but BC only graduated one person last year.

Bro,

Dont worry about pimping you own team on an internet message board. As a player you should focus on your game. If you keep winning it will do more to shut up the naysayers than any argument you can throw out on the internet. Let your game do the talking.
You know something that would really make me applaud? A guy gets stuck in quicksand, then sinks, then suddenly comes shooting out, riding on water skis! How do they do that?!

All I said that BC was overranked because they haven't played enough games yet. Is there something biased about that? Do they deserve a #6 ranking? Not based on the results yet.

Plus you guys need to look at the TSI, that is the true measure of laxpower and a lot more accurate.

I believe the University of Minnesota should get some mention for beating Florida State. That was a sold win on their part. Also, you have Indiana ranked, but not the Gophers who beat Indiana.

not sure what you are refering to here

BC has been the the tourney twice in their 2 years of eligibillity (both AQ from PCLL)

2003 they went 1-2 with a win over Washington SL, and lost to chico (1 goal) and CSU

2004 then went 2-1 with a loss to oregon and wins over Texas and Mizzou

Earlier this morning I pulled up my Top 25 vote from 3/10 and weekly Top 50 (it used to be only 40), reviewed all the scores, the conference standings and Laxpower. There's just no way to rank the 11th through 25th teams. If there's more surprises in store in today's games well we might have to get the old dart board out.
