Air Force's QB's injury was one of the worst injuries I have seen in a while.

Knees don't bend that way.

Dan, gonna call you out on this one cause I know you are a Hawaii lover (and whoever else was), still think they deserved to dance? Had a cupcake schedule and I think many would agree that they could have seen this one coming.

Just got back to the hotel, that game was painfully long.

Also, by the time I finish this post, Colt Brennan will have been sacked at least two more times.

I was pretty sure they were going to get killed, but I still believed they belonged there. I put Hawaii in the same boat as Illinois. Keeping with tradition, Illinois deserved to go to the Rose bowl, but that doesn't mean they had a chance at beating USC at home.

Also, anyone have any final predictions on the final standings, aside from OSU @ LSU?

Oddly, the Sun came up in Florida this morning following the sacrileguous act of putting a WAC team in the BCS resulted in a beatdown. Hopefully we won't tempt Armageddon next year and only place teams from the power conferences in the BCS. Woe to any mid-major or WAC team that dare tempt the fates again by winning. They would best be served by remembering their place as college football's also rans. (The same goes for all you upstart MCLA lax teams that dare dream of going to Texas).

Seriously though, UH got their shot and spit the bit. You need to block and tackle to win a game and they just didn't. However, they deserved to be there. Utah and Boise State have shown that the WAC can come to the BCS and compete though this year the conference was weaker than previous years. It wasn't a good game but then a lot of bowl games aren't good, even ones that follow a playoff (see: Super Bowl). We'll see how the Fiesta and, ahem, BCS National Championship Game as decided by the Corporate Sponsors turn out. Me thinks WVU is in for a world of hurt this evening.

A nice season for the Warriors and a great career for Colt Brennan but the Dawgs were clearly the better team last night. I will hoist a nice cool Kona to the Warriors the next time I'm sitting in Magoo's. Aloha brudahs.

What shall I say Brauck? I was raised in Hawai'i, where there are no major-league sports teams and UH football and basketball reigns supreme. This BCS game was well deserved, given the school's undefeated record, but the Warriors stunk up the joint. Kudos to Georgia, a fine football team. Now Hawaiians may have to wait another century for a similiar chance.

No, Utah and Boise State proved they could compete with not-good BCS teams. Pittsburgh two years ago and Oklahoma last year were the worst BCS conference winners in the games. Pitt was part of a 4-way tie for 1st place in the Big East with Syracuse, West Virginia and Boston College. Oklahoma last year was playing a senior WR at QB and Adrian Peterson was coming off of a broken collarbone and hadn't played in weeks. Sure the lower conferences deserve to be there...and play against a sub-par BCS conference team.

I think when non-national championship bowls start picking their two teams for the right reasons (who matches up the best) as opposed to the wrong reasons (who will make more money)...the BCS games will be better.

That's how the non-BCS bowls pick their games (#4 in the SEC vs #2 in the BigTen) or (#5 in the SEC vs #5 in the ACC), etc...and look at how many good games there are.

2 BCS games, 2 blowouts...I'd rather watch ECU and Boise than another BCS matchup that was just thrown together to make money for the sponsors.

ALSO:

Also, I hope Keenan Jones enjoyed his blatantly illegal hit on Mikey Henderson on Hawaii's first of many punts. Helmet to helmet + catching interference and the ball hit Jones in the back because he wasn't even playing the ball. Real classy. I am not Einstein...but I can bet money that when he took out senior starter Henderson...the defense took no prisoners on anyone wearing white. Anytime you saw a Hawaii helmet go flying (which was many)...Jones prolly wishes he wasn't such a punk.

At least Brennan took the beating with some manliness.

Oh the announcers for the game...worst of the season, by far.

I was impressed with Hawaii's turnout. I was not expecting that many fans.

Quote of the day (I heard this from a UGA fan to a Hawaii fan after the game): "It was nice to play a team for once that we don't hate."

I love college football.

Yada yada yada. The kid got flagged, what more do you want? He was playing hard and mistimed his hit. A half second later and maybe he causes a fumble and the talking heads are lauding his effort. I also didn't realize that UH cornered the market on aggressive but bonehead (leading with his helmet) plays...what about the late hit on Brennan in the end zone during the 3rd quarter when the game was already decided? It was flagged as well so what's the difference? Your hatred of Coach Jones and UH is noted but let's be a bit fair with our analysis.

At least Brennan took the beating with some manliness.

I can't even begin to understand this statement. I didn't realize that his manliness was in question or that it could be confirmed, to some degree in your estimation, based on his performance in a football game. How is Illinois' quarterback's manliness today?

I was talking about his class/dignity, Brennan kept it together and didn't resort to jawing or personal fouls. If you want to see what I am talking about, watch the UGA/Auburn game from last season and how Brandon Cox starts throwing tantrums.

Illinois' Juice held it together too even though his receivers couldn't hang onto the ball.

I perhaps should have said class, or resolve, but when a QB starts crying/whining/throwing-a-fit...he's no longer acting like a man. I friggin compliment Hawaii and that draws backlash. Give me a break. I didn't say "Colt Brennan is a candyass like Mitch Mustain", I said he took his beating like a man. COMPLIMENT.

Jones was a punk and was pulling crap all game. How many times did his helmet come off and he was on the field and he was yelling and acting like a 5 year old? That's why I am saying this AFTER his "performance" on special teams and in the backfield. There is a WORLD of difference between pushing the QB down a second or two after he passes on your swim-move, than there is lining up a punt returner with your helmet. Hitting the QB late is in the same ballpark as holding...it could get called on every play. 1 second late? 2 seconds late? I've seen 3 seconds late not get called...but a hit right on time against Vince Young gets 3 flags and a shoe thrown.

I don't "hate" June Jones. I don't "hate" Hawaii. Saying their schedule is weak (it was before last night) and their team isn't good (last night) and they didn't deserve to play UGA in the Sugar Bowl (see: last night) seems pretty fair. Hawaii plays Kansas in a bowl game, I can handle that. But UGA and USC don't play each other and they blow out inferior competition? Please. Putting conference champions against teams that didn't win their conference is perhaps the most idiotic thing about the bowl selections.

Actually, I don't like June Jones..my friend that plays DT for Hawaii says that no one there thinks he's going to stick around.

So basically, if that holds up then he's following the current coaching coaching trend of lack of class...or manliness....but I guess "manliness" is a relative term.

I just returned from Hawaii a few weeks ago and there was a lot of talk about tickets. They just couldn't get enough. The school was able to secure 1,500 additional tickets a couple weeks after sales. UH had to hold a ton of press conferences saying "don't call us, we'll call you if you're a season ticket holder". The buzz was cool to see. I couldn't imagine what it was like on the "bigger" islands or in Honolulu.

UH should have been in that game. They just ran into a buzz saw and one of the hottest teams in CFB right now. They looked flat all night and didn't execute on many plays that had nothing to do with Georgia. Their play calling stunk and Colt didn't look sharp at all. No doubt they played a very good team as well. I’m not sure that UH is a top 15 team, but top 20 seems fair. Regardless, Georgia would have put a beating on 85% of the bowl eligible teams right now.

Oh the announcers for the game...worst of the season, by far.

Fox's coverage stunk. The announcers, the quality of coverage, and the visual clarity was terrible in my opinion. Maybe Knox can weigh in on their camera usage and types. The picture just isn't the same when they do a game, and it’s exacerbated for a dome game. Fox doing football is the equivalent of CBS doing CB.

I will be honest, I wanted UH to win......just to prove that we need a playoff even more....

But even so....

WVU destroyed OU last night without Slayton....hopefully that will end the talk about the Big East being weak..

That was the WVU team that I hoped would show up vs. Pitt so we would have had OSU v. WVU border battle for the BSC (think what it means with the letters rearranged) ....

Man do we need a playoff....`

Zeus, just back from Hawaii?? I'm jealous!

I guess Georgia could be looking at a #1 rating coming out of the chute next fall.
West Virginia also looked very strong on offense last night.
I'm sure the Michigan faithful were all 'het up watching the offense that will be unveiled next year. I think Rodriguez will be the best thing to happen to the U of M in a long time...
