good new heads?

Any one have any recommendations for solid, non STX heads that are on the market today? I've had bad luck recently with them, and unfortunately, they no longer make the x2.

Im looking for something fairly stiff and durable, but not uber pinched either. I was lookin at the clutch, but it looks far too narrow for my taste

Sidenote: it was much easier 5 years ago to get a quality head. Everything nowadays is so gimmicky and poorly made

yeah, gary gaits plugging it apparently. But i think it only fits on the crankshaft shafts

We did a bunch of, I think, fair reviews at Rock-it Pocket.com if you wanted to take a look. I really think the Stiffi is going to be great and early returns from customers are glowing. Personally, I like the K18 a lot on a Crankshaft handle, though it is a little flexible if you don't like that sort of thing. I think the Brine Clutch and Franchise are also very solid heads. STX's newest release of the X2 is the Xcalibur, and that is a nice head that does NOT need the Crankshaft (the X3 does). I also think the Torque Pro will eventually be one of the most popular heads on the market.

I am going to agree with Alex. I have seen most of the new heads out there and I am really digging the new Xcaliber and Franchise. I have not seen the new Cyber Pro and really don't know when I will. The Torque Pro will become one of the most popular heads in the next year or so.

Alex can you compare the K18 and Proton Power? I have strung several of the K18 and play with the PP. I have not thrown with the K18 however but it looks very similar in design.

The K18 and Pro Power are virtually identical in face shape if you were to look at them straight on. The K18 actually allows you to use four leathers, which is to our advantage here at Rock-it Pocket, while the Pro Power only has enough holes for the middle two. From the profile, the K18 has a little more "action" while the Pro Power has a gradual cant to it. Both heads are very tight and I would say "advanced," or not for younger players just getting going with the sport, but I like them both. I would say that the K18 is more flexible than the Proton Power too. The biggest difference is obviously the Crankshaft design, which I think gives a little more ball control and shooting ability. I've noticed while warming up goalies that you can hold the ball a fraction of a second longer with the offset handle, giving you more options as a shooter.

just curious-how has the general trend of sticks being made for mesh affected Rock It Pocket? Interesting that you pointed out that even manufacturers are stopping to drill holes for four leathers. It's getting harder and harder to find anyone that can still string traditional.

It hasn't really affected us too much to be honest. The pockets sell themselves pretty well , especially to younger and/or older players who don't want to mess around with their pockets too much. We string mesh as well and since it is obviously much easier and quicker to string anyway, getting mesh orders is actually a nice change of pace. Really the only heads that don't have the four leather holes are the new Gait heads and we have figured out how to get the Rock-it Pocket in those heads as well.
