I read yesterday that it is better he asks for a sentence of a year and a day, rather than time less than a year because the way the guidelines are written, he would end up spending less time in the poke.
Lawyers out there confirm this or not?
Yes, you can go early. The only way to go late is with a judge's consent, if at all possible. Not say this from firsthand experience but secondhand only.
Mike Vick has topped himself again...
If the punishment would fit the crime, MV should have to serve his sentence at the local humane society shelter, separated by only chicken-wire on both sides from angry pit bulls rescued from dog-fighting operations like the one he ran.

23 months...Good.
Extra good.
Vick agreed to pay more than $928,000 for the care of some 54 pit bulls seized from his property.
Prosecutors also have disclosed the extent of Vick's financial ruin. According to court documents, the Atlanta Falcons are attempting to recoup bonus money from his 10-year, $130 million football contract, Vick is in default on a $1.3 million bank loan for a wine store, and two other banks have filed suits seeking repayment of a $4.5 million in loans and lines of credit.
Extra good.

But since these were federal charges that Vick was convicted and sentenced under, surely President Bush will commute the sentence because of it's "harshness". After all, the President has stated that if any of his friends were guilty of running a dogfighting ring he would want to know about it and they would no longer be playing in the NFL... no wait, he clarified that later to say if they were guilty of committing a crime they would no longer be able to quarterback on Sunday afternoons.... no that isn't it either.
Damn, I'm confused! We need a thorough congressional investigation to see what Bush knew about the Bad Newz Kennels and when he knew it. Maybe name a Republican Special Prosecutor to investigate the whole sorry affair and then avoid looking into whether Cheney and Rove were present at every dogfight personally, and making wagers?
Yeah, that's it!
