How much for personal lacrosse coach?

I have been asked several times to do some one on one coaching with high school lacrosse players in the Santa Barbara area. The kid's father that I am currently working with asked me what my hourly rate was. First number that came to my head was $30/hr. He seemed surprised that I was asking so low. I kick myself for not asking for more. Has anyone else done some personal coaching, and if so, how much did you charge?

$30/hr seems great to me. No reason to try and grift people. I've generally just donated my time to help up and coming players, so getting any cash just seems like a bonus

That's how I feel, but this guy seemed like he thought I would charge more. I also forgot to mention that he has a small lacrosse field in his front yard overlooking the ocean, so I think he can afford it.

I've done that for a couple families. I've gotten between $30 and $50 per hour from each, so I think $30 is definitely a reasonable asking price

I have done it before. I generally charge $50/hour.

I did have one family that I did private lessons for their son and daughter, our trade off was that I got front row hockey tickets and he also did my taxes.

I agree, $50/hr is fair for one kid. If there are two kids, you can do $75.

$75 for one hour

$50 an hour if they buy 10 sessions in advance

$35 an hour for 20+ sessions.

$5 extra for each additional athlete.

Give out a couple of t-shirts and a pair of shorts and spend a few dollars on some speed training cones, ladders etc. Within a few months you will have more clients than you can handle. The type of parent that wants one on one training understands that your time has value.

I don't have time to do this but I did when I was an asst. coach.

My tennis pro gets $60/hour. Most cheaper tennis pros charge at least $50 an hour. The more expensive ones/resorts charge $75 or more per hour. And yes they charge more for lessons involving 2 or more people.

Your time is valuable. Don't discount the travel time involved to get to/from the lesson site. Unless you can do multiple lessons back to back, you will spend probably two hours of your time just to teach 1 one hour lesson.

One of our assistant coaches charges 65/hr......he's also a professional strength and conditioning coach that includes lacrosse specific training into the sessions. I don't know anyone in Pittsburgh or Baltimore that charges anything less than 50 bucks/hr.

I did mine at 80-100 dollars an hour...that might seem like a lot...but it was usually like an hour and 15 - 30 minutes...

I also broke down the session a head of time, and got that to them so they knew what the focus was for the day...I also asked them for what they thought they needed to work on most, and tried to tackle that first and build onto it...the key with this you can schedule more sessions by giving them a breif taste of something new, and lock them into a couple of more...if you are doing it for friend for just side money vs. turning a profit and functioning as a business....
