2007 College Football Schedule for Week No. 14 (12/1/07)

Non-lacrosse specific topics.

Feinstein continued:

Here's what else is wrong with the system: If Missouri or West Virginia loses Saturday, Ohio State will be in the championship game. Why? Ohio State's one loss was at home to a three loss Illinois team. Kansas lost on a neutral field to the current No. 1 team in the country. Neither team beat anyone out of conference and Kansas played in a better conference.

So why is Ohio State automatically better than Kansas? Because it lost sooner than Kansas? Because the BCS poll says so? Why is Ohio State's 11-1 better than Kansas's 11-1? Who exactly did Ohio State beat in a Big Ten that might have been as mediocre as the incredibly mediocre ACC? Does anyone think Ohio State is as good as USC now that the Trojans are healthy?

AHHHHH, you keep moving the goalposts! Now when a non-BCS team gets to a BCS bowl and wins it's because they played a "bad" BCS team? BSU won the game. Utah played Pitt and won the game. You can't say that the teams that the BCS conference teams put in the bowls to face WAC and MWC teams were somehow unworthy and then say UH doesn't get a shot because they are unworthy for playing in a non-BCS conference. It's just not logical.

If UH goes undefeated, draws LSU in the Sugar Bowl (a home game for them by the way), and gets killed then you can say I told you so. But is that game any less appealing than the LSU/ND snore fest from last year? Or what about that squeaker that UF pulled out over Ohio State? I for one love pulling for the little guy and will be wearing my UH shirt as those kids do the Haka on the Superdome turf.

Utah and Pitt? Ah, the Mountain West champion played the team in a 4 way tie for the coveted Big East championship in 2005. Sweet. So they picked the worst team in the BCS and put them up against the MWC/WAC champ. I mean if that's what the lower conferences need to win their BCS games, then cool. When I boxed I loved going against the guy with one arm...I mean...a win is a win, right?

Ok, If any of these teams (Hawaii, Boise, Utah) were so good, why aren't they good year after year? I guess the competitiveness of playing Louisiana Tech and San Jose State puts quite the strain on a team.

I wouldn't say "I told you so" over LSU beating Hawaii...because they SHOULD beat Hawaii. It's a fluff game for LSU, just like them playing Louisiana Tech and winning 58-10. Who (funny enough) gave Hawaii their best game of the season, losing 44-45 in OT when LT scored a TD and instead of kicking the XP they went for the 2pt conv, and failed. What a quality win for Hawaii!!! I'm sold on how good they are...I mean after all...they are undefeated right?

Every once in a while, the fluff team wins...and it's cool/funny (App State, Duke, etc). But when a team fluffers their way through the season then gets a BCS game and millions of dollars over a Florida team, Boston College, or Arizona State team...then something is wrong.

Don't worry, Hawaii plays their hardest game of the season this Saturday against the worst team (sorry Dan) in the PAC 10, Washington...who (funny enough) smoked the defending WAC champ, the Fiesta Bowl Reigning Conquistador and current WAC 2nd place team this year, Boise.

When the best team you play all year is 4-8...you need a real schedule.

What if Notre Dame played a WAC schedule next year and goes undefeated? I can guarantee there'd be chaos with everyone complaining about their SOS when it came time for BCS picks. But for some reason it's ok for Hawaii to play teams that are barely considered D-1 and stumble their way to a "perfect" season and be rewarded?

So if 2 people take a class, and one is algebra I and the other is differential equations...the algebra student makes an A and the diff eq student makes a B...the algebra student is smarter and more deserving of a scholarship?

True the Algebra student didn't take diff eq...but you can't base current comparisons off of "what if", it's gotta be "what is".

Hearing Tommy Tuberville to Arkansas rumors on the Internet..... Talk about turning over the apple cart in the SEC West. Does TT want the entire SEC to hate him.

No truth to the rumor that if TT leaves Auburn for ARK that Saban is interested in the Auburn job.

I think the point is that these schools that are essentially football "mid-majors" have a small window. If they put together an undefeated season they deserve to play in a premiere bowl because they beat every team on their schedule. I don't buy the argument that Hawaii doesn't belong because they have a weak schedule, the fact is they beat everyone on their schedule and they are the only team in America to do that this year. Now should they play in the title? That is where you can slight them, they do not, in my opinion, deserve to be in the title game. But as a football fan how can you honestly deny them the opportunity to play against a premiere program in a premiere game?

The two previous teams (Utah, Boise State) who were given the opportunity, won their game. Non-BCS conference schools have 1.000 winning percentage in BCS bowl games, by comparison Notre Dame has a 0.000 winning percentage in BCS bowl games. Chew on that.

So ok, if you don't need to play a non-pathetic schedule to get a BCS game...why should any team play a good schedule? What's the point?

Well, I was wrong but then again Tebow was sitting at home like I was.

I have flip flopped and will remain a Vols fan. I may not like may wife on the rare occasion but I love her and I took a vow to do not only that but to honor and obey. So I will stay true to my school. I do not have to accept mediocrity and will continue to fight for change but I am and will always be a Volunteer.

Go Vols! Beat B.C.!

PS
Now that Chik-Fil-A has the naming rights to the former Peach Bowl, when 31 December falls on a Sunday, will there still be a bowl game in the Georgia Dome? (I asked this when I was at the Georgia Dome two weeks ago and did not get a straight answer.)

Pitt- 13
WVU- 7

Only a true football game can appreciate a score like that.

Utah didn't choose Pitt. I know for a fact that they were very disappointed to play Pitt. The question is why were they paired against Pitt? The reason is that it was the first time that someone got in from outside the BC$. It was the best option for the Cartel to put the guys trying to gain respect up against the chump. That way, if Utah lost, they could say "See...they didn't belong here in the first place." And if Utah won, they could say exactly what you did. That Pitt was a lousy team, and beating them didn't mean anything. If Utah chose Pitt, then you would have an argument. Do you really think Urban Meyer would duck anyone?

Of course, BSU was from one of those weak conferences and got hammered in a bowl game that they didn't deserve to be in...NOT.

We had this argument last year. Nothing has changed. The more $$ still goes to the crappiest teams in the BCS conferences than the good teams in the non-BCS conferences. Recruits don't go to the MWC because they don't get the exposure that they would get in the Pac-10, etc.

The big question for me is...why did you choose to fight guys with one arm?

thank you to OU for making everything right again with the world. Now we just need Kansas and Hawaii to flop in their bowls and justice will be served to teams who ruin the polls by playing high school schedules.

Do you think Tim Tebow is the heisman favorite now that Daniels lost to Oklahoma again, or do you think D Mac has the lead?

Notre Dame is not in a BCS conference, chew on that.

Michigan State backed out of a scheduled game with Hawaii this season. It's hard to play quality opponents when quality opponents go all BCS-complex and back out of games, classy. Hawaii was forced to add a second D-1AA opponent because of this for the 2007 season.

Also, Notre Dame is an Independent, but if you read the rules of the BCS regarding at large teams, Notre Dame is specifically written into the rules as a special team. The selection committee may take the best team that has qualified from a BCS conference OR Notre Dame. Despite Notre Dame being an Independent, they have played as many BCS games (2) as the non-BCS conference teams.

The argument to play quality opponents holds some water, but regardless if you go undefeated you deserve an invite to the party. Not saying they deserve to be in the title game, but they deserve to play a big-time opponent in a BCS bowl.

Not really a Tiger fan, but it is really, really, really, really hard to say LSU doesn't deserve to be in the title game. Georgia, you did not even win your division, no amount of whining will ever change that. And Ohio State gets in by default, though they played a schedule that would make Hawai'i laugh.

I would expect Trutt Cathy to want to move the CFA bowl to an alternate (non-Sunday) date.
