JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Dr. Robert Cade, who invented the sports drink Gatorade and launched a multibillion-dollar industry that the beverage continues to dominate, died today of kidney failure. He was 80.

Not sure how it is Ironic...
A lot of things can cause renal disease or renal failure. HTN, Diabetes, Infection.
I doubt drinking Gatorade will lead to renal failure. The more fluid that goes to your kidneys, typically they will become better at filtering the solutes (electrolytes).
