Or you could have had to come from behind late to beat Vandy... at home... for the second time in two years... to avoid losing 2 of the last three to them. You have to be freakin' kidding me! Come from behind in the 4th to be Vandy? BAAAAAAA! BAAAAAAAAAAA!! BAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Come on Brad, repeat after me... "That deserves a contract extension and a raise!" And yeah, we didn't take a dive like Bama did (How is Saban looking now, see?) but Vandy is Vandy. An instate, intra-division rival... at home no less.
Then again, now that I live close to the black hole that is Iowa City, America's Team doesn't look so bad. I was thinking of moving across the river but I cannot bring myself to pay taxes that could potentially line the pockets of one of the biggest frauds in college football, Kirk Ferentz (The others being Bob Davie, Phil Fulmer, Mac Brown, Charlie Weis and Tyrone Willingham). Should have it the trifecta last year, Kirk. Petrino was smart to. I know that the alumni love you but losing at home to Western Michigan is no bueno. All you Big 11 apologists take heed!
Basketball season cannot come soon enough! (How about that Brad, we are excited about both basketball teams this year. Amazing! I am thinking of naming my kid Bruce Pat Pearl Head Ritz... Whadda ya think?)
Go Kenlucky! Do it for Sandy Randers! He like Oswald was a patsie, 'cept Sanders was and Oswald was only "allegedly."

I think the winner will come from this field - Pat White (WVU), Darren McFadden (Ark), Chase Daniel (Mizzou), Todd Reesing (Kansas), or Matt Ryan (BC, they have to win tonight at Clemson though for him to have any shot).
first player ever to throw for 20 TD and rush for 20 TD in same season (26,20 respectively).
single season SEC rushing TD record holder (just passed Garrison Hearst and Shaun Alexander, Labrandon Toefield)
#2 passer rating in the country
he has 2 games left in his season.
I'll give you white and mcfadden, even add dorsey, but the rest don't do anything for me.

Decent points, here is my take on why Tebow isn't getting the love, at least not before this weekend:
Take Tebow away from Florida and they can put anyone in that offense and still get 10 TD's passing and 10 TD's rushing at a minimum. Just look at what Leak did with the offense last year and he is a pocket quarterback, not at all made for Meyer's offense. Tebow is phenomenal athlete, but that team is sooooo good that it takes away from Tebow's numbers being a case for him for Heisman.
Look at Oregon now, that team is DECIMATED and may not win another game without Dennis Dixon. He was the backbone of that team, without him at QB that offense can barely sniff the endzone...even against lowly Arizona. A team that is critically hurt without it's star player?? Isn't that the definition of a Heisman candidate??
If you want the Heisman to be the Most Valuable Player award for college then Dixon has to be your Heisman, regardless of injury because the injury only proves just how important he was.
If you want it to be Most Outstanding Player, then Tebow is no question your boy.

True dat. It's not the "(would have been) The Most Outstanding..." or "(had he not gotten hurt, he'd be) The Most Outstanding..." or "(for 3/4 of the games, he was) The Most Outstanding...".
Lots of teams have great players that get hurt and their season gets scrapped. Tebow is the total package.

anyone who mentions Colt Brennan should also include Kevin Smith from UCF, about to go over 2,000 yards rushing and has 20+ td's this year.
couple weeks ago he had 300 + yards rushing i believe

I like the name Ethan...has a nice ring to it. I'm quite excited about bball season myself...to bad Pearl wasn't around campus in my days...I had to live with Buzz Ball.
It's crazy that UT is still in 1st place in the SEC East when they look so horrible. That will all change this week I believe. Peach Bowl here we come!

What about 5/6 of the games? Dixon will have played in and scored TD's in 10 of 12 Oregon games. Is missing one game too much? What about two? If Tebow gets hurt then who gets the trophy? Something tells me SEC fan will still be tooting Tebow's horn even if he has career-ending injury tomorrow in practice.
Just so everyone is clear I am simply putting up an argument, I think Tebow is undoubtedly the best player in college football. McFadden might be a better athlete and better suited for the position he plays but he is not having the season Tebow is (insert angry Razorback fan crack at Houston Nutt here). Tebow is putting it out there and executing and leading his team to national prominence, that is a Heisman candidate and with Tebow's numbers a Heisman winner.

Nah, the SEC doesn't go by the whole "would be" stereotype. I don't hear anyone talking about awesome Kraig Lumkin is at UGA, even though he's been injury ridden since he arrived in Athens. Instead...someone better stepped up and took his place (Thomas Brown) and when Brown got shelved...someone else (Moreno) stepped up and took his place. Maybe Oregon should have some depth, kinda like UF did when Leak was the starter and Tebow was the backup. If the best backup Oregon could accumulate is related to Ryan Leaf...something's wrong.
If Tebow is the front-runner..and he gets hurt and doesn't finish the season...then no chance he gets it. I think McFadden is being overlooked by the press.

Typically it's the "Most outstanding senior college quarterback or running back coming off a strong junior season on a team that has a chance to win the national championship at a school with a good media machine."

it would have to be a decapitation.
he ran a 29 yard game tying touchdown on a broken leg (not just a hairline fracture, nasty season ending) as a sophomore in HS.

Yeap, Oklahoma's Jason White, Nebraska's QB (whatever his name is) when Nebraska got blown out of their conference game to Colorado and still got BCS-ed in...then got pummeled by Miami in January 2002.
