The schedule, with all of it's glory is posted at the PNCLL page!

If you see an error, please email me... Not for changes, but for errors, as in we have you playing Cal when you will be playing BYU on such & such a day. Thanks for your patience. We still had errors to correct until this afternoon, no changes should be necessary.
If you have questions about why something was done, please feel free to ask, I'll try to answer them as best I can.
For a quick overview, we made a grid of dates that were unavailable for teams & then started matching dates. In the A, travel partners should work out for about 1/2 the season. In the B, there are 10 teams, it was a little easier, the majority of weekends teams get 2 games. We tried to limit teams to have 1 long trip, although that didn't always work. Some teams get 5 games @ home while other's get 4, it's the nature of the beast. As far as teams owing other teams home games, we did our best to make your travel partner switch that game, however, officials, teams, & costs have changed. We abandoned that when necessary. In the following years, flipping the home & away should be easier.... but then again, if 1 team gets moved to the A, we'll be back at square one.

Yes we are aware that Division 2 is not split North & South anymore, we're working on getting that changed.

I'll just be the first to do it, but I want to thank Jason and Kyle both and Keith and whoever else toiled over getting this schedule to work best for everyone in the league. I know it's not easy work, and as someone who was part of an apparently large group I apologize for sending in a late OOC change!
The schedule looks great to me! I'm glad to see the start date moving up so we get lacrosse for a longer period of time!!

CofI/Whitman/Western Oregon
Why do we and Whitman play Western Oregon twice? and why do we have to play @Western both games? I'm slightly curious as to if this was a mistake or not. As far as I could tell we (CofI) have all 5 home games within 3 weekends and Whitman has all 4 home games in 2 weekends, while Western has 7 home games spread out all over the place. Just a concern.

We had a schedule change made & it looks as though the origional date was not pulled. We'll confirm it again tomorrow. You'll only play them once. I believe the Feb 09 game should be removed. Just as I believe the Feb 10th game between WOU & WC should also be removed. Again, I'll confirm tomorrow with Jason & Marilyn.
As far as when you're games take place... We can either have you play your home games at random times & send officials out each time (your cost of about $1,200-1,500), or we can try to minimize the travel cost over 2 games so your dues & fundraising won't be as extreme. Fortunately for WOU, they have officials within 30 miles, which means no travel costs. It's not a priority to keep their games close together.

Cool, Kyle. Just let us know when the finalized schedule is up.
Also, once we have your schedule to work around, if, say Whitman wanted to play Gonzaga on a free wknd in early Feburary, what would we do to go about planning that?
Thanks!

Changes have been made, the schedule should be accurate.
To schedule more games, teams would probably email both Jason & I, so whoever gets there first can deal with it. We'll have to see if we can get it covered & then confirm from there.
I don't think teams on the eastern side of the mountains realize the cost involved with bring officials out... A 3 man crew, that car pooled to Whitman from the Seattle area last year had a cost of $969.92. That was THE minimum cost... They didn't have to carpool & we can't force them too... This game easily could have been $1.2k or more.
Most officials also do not want to travel 9+ hours to ref 1 game. When we say we assign officials, what we really do is offer them games, they have to accept them. When a large percentage of officials have wives & children, it gets even more difficult to send them away for 1 game.
As a coach, if we were to play a non-conference game for practice, I'd make it a scrimmage & invite an official to do it for peanuts. At Whitman, I'd try & convince Dave to do it, or have Lewicki come down with Gonzaga & do it. I'd rather float someone $80 to do it, than pay nearly $1k & jump through the hoops I just outlined if all I'm really trying to do is get another game in.

Clarification: When Kyle says "someone" he means a non-certified, "non-official official". Teams may not ever contact actual refs directly and offer them a game, nor may they pay a ref less than their negotiated, contractual rates. This would be a huge "no-no".
Only the CAA can assign officials to real games, and we play with who is assigned. Scrimmages are a different story, anybody can "ref" these, or nobody at all.

Schedule
All teams also need to remember that the "OFFICIAL" assigning site for refs is located on ARBITER. A game not listed on ARBITER will not have refs.
Each team needs to provide me with e-mail addresses for coaches and team reps who will be responsible for checking the game info on ARBITER. I wll give them access to the site.
I'll do everything possible to accommodate game changes but please remember that one change can cause a cascade of changes on the schedule.

I think a couple things need to be cleared up here. . .
First off, thank you Kyle for all of your hard work in putting the league schedule together. I know we worked together on this thing, but you did most of the heavy lifting and for that I am very grateful.
As a reward, you don't have to worry another minute about scheduling issues. . .
If any teams want to add an interleague game (D1 vs. D2) or an OOC game that will be played (and therefore officiated) within the boundaries of the PNCLL, you need to contact 3 people on your email request to add the game.
Keith MacFie - no games will be added unless approved by Keith - he makes the final decision based upon availability of officials for each game.
Marilyn Hoskins - she is responsible for posting the game on the website.
Jason Stockton - I will work with Keith and Marilyn to make sure all T's are crossed and I's are dotted and guarantee that your extra games are quickly approved or denied so proper planning can occur.
All of our email addresses can be found at our league website - www.pncll.com. Please do not use this forum to try to add games at this point.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding. We will do everything we can to accomodate all requests for OOC games or interleague games (D1 vs. D2) within the conference.
