after the madcity classic this weekend, im going to go out on a limb and say that depaul will take the d2 division. They were absolutely nasty and played some quality teams in illinois state and marquette.

I know the favorite to win the division has been harding in the past, but im gonna go with depaul until the spring starts

Did Depaul beat both Illinois State & Marquette? Scores?

I don't have scores right now, but I'll try and find them. Yes they did beat both ISU and Marquette, and I'm pretty sure they finished 2nd at the tourney

I dont have the exact score of the ISU/Depaul game but I can say this. Depaul is a complete different team from last season. They had a full roster that was stocked with some athletes. It was a close game till the end when some ISU players said some dumb things to the ref. Besides that ISU went 1-2 on the weekend beating Purdue and loosing to Madison and Depaul. We were able to get our new guys some much needed experience on the weekend and hope to continue this through the fall.

I was one of the refs at the tournment and depaul did beat Marquette and ISU, I believe the score of the Depaul-Marq game was 9 to 1, and they beat ISU by either 1 or 2 goals. They did finish 2nd falling to a very good Ohio State team 12 to 0. But will say Depaul is a very good team and will turn some heads in the GRLC this year.
ISU will get another shot at Depaul this weekend at NIU tournment because they play in the first round, it should be a hell of a game.

just to plug this tourny, I think anyone with free time on saturday should head out to dekalb, IL for the NIU fall tourny. Teams from the UMLL, CCLA, GRLC, and GLLL will be there, and if history has shown anything, it will be a great time for all

bste_lax wrote:All I can add about Iowa right now is Kevin Tidgewell is no longer the coach as he is finishing up his PhD and will be gone in December. He is actually already away from campus finishing up his thesis.

I heard rumors that a former Oregon player is coaching now, but this has not been confirmed by anyone yet.

There were also rumors that Matt Striebel might help out a little here or there as he has been at Iowa for the Writer's Workshop program for the past two years and they finally convinced him to come out to help out. Who knows how much though.

Aside from that, this is the least bit I have ever known about Iowa since before my "glory days".

For all three people that care, I did get confirmation that Zach Katz (former Oregon player) will be the head coach and that Matt Striebel will be helping out when he can this year for Iowa.

Congrats on the hire.
