Boise -Oklahoma

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Thu Oct 11, 2007 6:30 pm

Don't forget that Boise State simply dominated the Sooners for three quarters before a furious OU comeback gave them the lead late. Give Boise State credit for hanging in there after handing back all of that big lead and never quitting after falling behind. The argument before the game from so many of you folks was that the Broncos didn't even belong in a BCS game, that their unbeaten record "didn't mean anything". Now they just got lucky against a "crappy" Oklahoma team? Revisionist history! Methinks somebody should volunteer for Larry Craig's defense team.

And IMHO Oklahoma was NOT overrated at all! Remember that Adrian Peterson missed many games due to injury, and that OU "lost" at Oregon on an official's error, pure and simple. Otherwise the Sooners might have actually made the title game last year, and probably would have given the Gators a tougher test than the Buckeyes did.

That and Oklahoma had a makeshift quarterback that was a widereceiver. The current one is looking good...cept when they lose. The Big 12 looks odd this year.

Me too. Anything that provides more ammunition for the creation of a true playoff system is terrific. I hope these results cause the BCS folks lots of turmoil, and that they ultimately name a 10-3 schoool to play a 9-4 team for the national title when all is said and done.

It will provide ammunition, but that won't penetrate the BCS Body Armor. Those idiots are like lemmings, they will go down with the ship and stand by whatever ridiculous outcome their computers come up with. The NCAA doesn't mind, they like all the publicity they get and they don't care what two teams make it to the NC as long as they get their $$$$$$ at the end of the day.

I agree with whoever brought up the idea of a Presidential candidate running on the College Playoff Platform. I don't know if they could actually make the NCAA do it, but I'd vote for 'em regardless

It might be possible to attack their anti-trust exemption if they refused to play "playoff" ball.

Don't know how that would work at all as the NCAA doesn't control or organize post-season 1-A football playoffs.

They don't organize it, but they allow their teams to play in the bowl format and certainly have the capacity to organize playoffs and end the bowl format. If the federal government were to say, "Run a playoff or say goodbye to your antitrust exemption," I think the NCAA would respond to that.

Of course, I don't think the federal government would do that.
