UMLL Alumni game

Perhaps charge a small sum that would be donated to a legitimate, well-known charity of some type?

UMLL Alumni game for _________________________

Rob

I am all for raising some money for a charity and playing lacrosse, so this is a win/win.

I was thinking for splitting it up, each team is responsible for getting their own alum together and coming to play. Not all teams have to/will participate. After we know how many teams are in it, we can determine how to bracketize the tourney.

As far as dates go, I was thinking next summer would be the earliest due to short notice. If you wanted to just do an alumni game, this summer would probably be possible. Otherwise, I would say shoot for next summer, maybe middle-end of June/begin of July.

Anyhow, since I am not going to be in charge that is just my two cents.

I think this is a great idea. I am more than happy to look into open dates at UST. Would everyone be open to a UMLL Alumni tourny in August? it would have to be the first two weeks before football starts. I will make some calls to the school, and see what they say. Teams get in contact with alum, and lets see how many teams are even interested.

I inquired before the August date was suggested, but Mankato alumni who are interested in general include:

Mike Schmidt
Jeff Dolan
Mike Black
Jason Worwa
Matt Carpentier
CJ Reinhart
Mitch Allen
Rich Limpert
Garrett Hammerstrom
Luke Foslien
Jay Haapala
Tim Roche
Josh Kuhn
Andy Schmidt
Russ Ramsey (former MSU assistant coach, current hack master of disaster)

For those of you who are in the know, you'd agree that's a pretty deadly round up already!!!

I inquired with some of the Marquette guys and it seems we would be able to round up a team.

It might be nice to look at letting some teams combine forces. I know of a few St. Olaf alumni that might want to play, but there are not enough to make a team.

How serious are we about this event, I talked to the president of the MLA today about it, and they said they would help organize the event if we really wanted to do it. I'd suggest if there were proceeds, that they would go to the UMLL?

Proceeds going to the UMLL or another non-profit organization I think is good. The UMLL might be the best, a way to raise money for the conference.

I cannot organize it this year, but would be happy to organize a team from Marquette to come up if we are serious. I would say it is pretty late in the year to organize it for this year, perhaps we set a date for next year and organize it? Either way, let me know and I will be the contact for Marquette.

Ya, I agree it is too late for this year, but we could get it going for next.

I think we would be able to get a Moorhead alumni team to play as long as it is not during our home tourney in the big "M" town.

Chris, now that you are an alum and can join in the festivities of being such, you want to put together a game for next summer? I will round up some Marquette alum to play if you guys organize it?

If not, anyone else want to step up to the plate? I would be willing to help, just don't want to be in charge :)
