Coach Beckner:

As of today, I would say no. Our officials have not received an official written mechanic for this procedure.

After talking to one of our officials tonight I would say that it is a pretty safe "no".

Concerning the rule on the faceoff, I cant see why the wing players on the penalized team would be required to hold until the whistle blows. How would this work with the wing men on both teams, they hold until the ball carrier goes or what?

The official I spoke with advised the wing players will release on the whistle to restart play. They are free to move up and down the wing as needed.

I will be interested to see the official mechanics and implementation of this rule. Generally, I think the concept of the rule is a good idea, just how it gets implemented will be interesting.

Wings

I see the rule being interpreted this way: Because one of the face-off men jumped the whistle (or lined up incorrectly, etc.), the face-off has not happened. Therefore, all are restrained until the whistle blows. Once play has started, the wings are released.

Haha, not funny. Although I did start out near the podium and continually got moved to the back. Maybe I should go get some glasses....
