The other thing I hate about this case is how people are saying we should go lighter on Vick because the decision made against so and so in the NFL for doing whatever wasn't that tough. Forget that.......that thought process seems like a warped way to look at past decisions.

Apparently the NAACP wasn't around during the OJ Simpson murder trial.

OJ didn't need the NAACP to get away with murder.

What I fail to see is why the NAACP disproportionately defends people, but they can't condemn people as well.

I wonder if the 4 white and 2 black people that started the NAACP would approve RL White's "speech" [sic] and other lovely actions in regards to the Mike Vick situation...and their various other lovely endeavors.

But now that Vick has pleaded guilty and will go to prison for his crimes, the justifications and defenses need to stop. The people who justify and defend on the basis of culture are demeaning themselves in the process. Don't tell me about Leonard Little or Jamal Lewis, and please, please, please don't tell me everybody who eats a T-bone or a piece of barbecued chicken is as guilty as Vick because the meat-processing business in this country is as inhumane as Bad Newz Kennels. Spare us both the specious comparisons and the pieties, and see it for what it is.

I love dogs. My family lost our dog just before Christmas, and all of this animal cruelty is horrific. I seriously do not know what to say to this case.

My apologies, I meant no offense. I am also a huge dog lover, owner, and foster. The ironic thing is that after all the media hub bub and public outcry, Vick is facing a pretty small penalty, in my opinion.

Vick speaks out. The "immaturity defense" has been used in the past and seems to have run its course. It’s also nice to see that he's found GOD, if it’s legit. I have a pessimistic feeling that the religion factor is going to play a large role in his calculating public relations campaign for forgiveness.

I think it's often a point of negotiation in plea agreements.

As to why he'd start serving early, well, you get to finish early, too.
