What is the problem with soccer cleats? I thought that is what most players used.

I would also love to see a ban on soccer cleats. Or at least a penalty. What about cradling while running without the ball in your stick. Should also be banned.

Next thing you are going to tell me is that you are banning jorts, then no one from Gainesville will be allowed to play.

Yeah, and those fake passes and shots that some players do! No attempt to deceive the opponents ever! In fact, the shooter should have to tell the goalie where he intends to shoot! And in the NFL, no more fake handoffs or pump fakes! And no head fakes in the NBA!

Deception is part of offense (and sometimes defense) in almost every sport. I can't imagine why you'd want to ban it in lacrosse unless you keep getting burned by guys cradling without the ball. If that's the case, look for the ball! :D

Do you really want to put the officials in the position of having to judge whether a player is "cradling while running without the ball"?! You don't even want us to call the cross-check hold, which comes up far more often and makes more of a difference in the game!

As to a rule banning soccer cleats, I can't imagine why the MCLA would consider starting to change playing rules from the NCAA rulebook. I thought the whole point of the MCLA was to play high-level club lacrosse with unmodified NCAA rules.

LaxRef - these are all toungue in cheek. If you knew Danny his biggest pet peeve is people wearing soccer cleats on the field. I remember walking with him at nationals two years ago and he was said something like "man that kid is wearing soccer cleats, he must suck" and you know what? Danny was right.

The running while cradeling without the ball is not talking about hidden ball tricks but rather kids just running up and down the field. Watch for it next time you ref, its pretty funny.

LaxRef. In Dallas this year, Danny and I added a few things on top of soccer cleats. By cradling without the ball, I was referring to when a new player running looks goofy because he unintentionally cradles his stick without the ball in it. I hope that makes sense. I am all about deceiving opponents, hidden ball tricks, and that sort of stuff. We also discussed the people who wear their helmets so high on their heads that they look through the bottom holes of their facemasks.

Hopefully this doesn't redirect Catlaxman's initial topic.

good call...but the MCLA should bring the "dive" back to college lacrosse.
Maybe we could generate more fan support that way.

One is never friends with Danny Hogan. He walks alone.

We are left to walk in his shadow and live vicariously through his exploits.

And about the banning of jorts... whatever. UT Lacrosse rulez!
