Did anyone else read that story, hit AAU and immediately think of Tom Emanski?

Add to this the recent story that Spurrier was fired up because he told two recruits that met the minimum-academic requirements to play Division I football that they would be playing at USC. But the two did not meet the academic requirements of USC, so they were denied admission in Columbia. Spurrier throws a hissy fit because he looks like a fool to these kids but why should the academic integrity of an institution be cheated for some athletes?

Then again, my alma mater had a scandal where tutors were not only writing papers but attending classes and taking exams on behalf of "student"-athletes.

Man I have to tell you after reading this story so late at night, I was quite intrigued to hear that Spurrier was coaching at USC - then I woke up and remembered that that was the University of South Carolina - not the other USC

The sad thing is everyone's pocketing the money except the talent on the field/floor. Yes, they are getting an education at low cost, but others are reaping millions off of their labor If they get a plane ticket home they lose their eligibility. Some may not be the best qualified college students, but if they elect to go into the job market out of high school, the NBA says "no can do" - you've gotta wait a year (so they keep a good relationship with their farm teams).
