Hey guys,
I am posting this to ask for a favor.
Long story short, there is a radio station in Minneapolis that is giving out $5000.00 to anyone who could come up with a way to improve the community in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. About two weeks ago I submitted an idea and have now found out that I am one of three finalists.
My plan is to use the $5000.00 to start a youth lacrosse program in North Minneapolis. The North side has the highest drop out rate of any school in Minnesota and I think these kids need a positive role model i.e. a lacrosse player who gets a free education to a top university in the U.S. rather than a 18 year old kid who skips college to make millions and wear gold chains.
Either way, if you could help me out by going to http://www.am1280thepatriot.com and vote for "Project #3". I am not sure how long you have to vote but if you could do it in the next few weeks, that would be perfect. Send this on to all your friends as well.
If I do in fact win, I would also be looking for anyone who would be interested in helping out. Right now, my plan would be to use most of the money to buy equipment so the kids do not have to. To start, I would run several clinics to introduce the sport and then work with the current Minneapolis lacrosse club/Minneapolis Park and Rec to keep the program going.
Thanks for the help!

I "boted" for you as the radio web page said to do. Nice misspelling on the bottom of the page where you cast your vote.

Bote early, bote often. One from my school account and one from my junk mail.
Great idea Jesse. Good to see lacrosse reaching out more in the Twin Cities.

stretch every dollar as far as you can! perhaps you can get also get help from the USL BRIDGE program? seems like this area would be a prime candidate.

Definitely check into that; you'll get a lot more for your money that way!
I don't know if it would help, but through my US Lacrosse position I received a bunch of coupons for Lacrosse gear from Dick's sporting goods. They expire at the end of January, I think. If you think they'd be helpful, let me know.
Also, I'd bet you could raise some money from the local lacrosse community for this project. Good luck!
