Ive never been but is it that unsafe downtown??

No, it's not unsafe. Like all large metropolitan cities, of course there are neighborhoods you would probably not want to venture into at night (North Minneap, anyone?), but the downtown/warehouse district is fine. The city has worked to help it's image, although the porn shops and sex stores directly near the hotspots leaves quite a bit to be desired.

And yes, stay away from Lone Tree. Nothing but trouble there. I've been thrown out for accidentally spilling a drink. Literally, thrown out.

The city does their best to maintain Minneapolis' image as a pleasant and safe place.

Anyone who pays attention can see through the veneer.

The city has worked to help it's image, although the porn shops and sex stores directly near the hotspots leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Are you saying the quality of our sex shops do not meet your standards? Come on, Sexworld is a great place for date night!

In my experience the people who frequent the adult themed clubs don't bother anybody. Not that I know people who go to those bastions of sin.

I simply don't care for the herds of drunk people looking for a reason to start a fight. The street peddling drug dealers operate openly, aggressive pan handlers accost you on just about every block, and groups of goons hang out on many different corners, usually near bus stops to avoid loitering.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but downtown Minneapolis is not a fun place to be, nor I would argue, is it very safe.

I apologize for hijacking this thread completely.

The video is the most damning evidence here....its not going to get tossed out - as long of the chain of custody is intact....it also shows two players watching this take place...

I dont care how many cases this guy has won, he will lose this one with the video evidence, and calling up another buddy to participate in the action after others left.....

He should rott, just like the football program has been for years....

I read the police report. Mike Freeman has handled this case well.

I can't see how Mr. Jones can avoid prison time.

I don't believe the other guys have been charged.

While I'm a recovering Gopher Football Fan, I'm still very disappointed that the actions of these guys will further contribute to the negative perception some people hold of the student athletes at Minnesota, of which the vast majority are good students and good citizens.

How about the negative image of college age males? Not viewed in a positive light by people in the 28-75 age demographic...
