PNCLL Week #6 (3/9-3/15) Predict, Scores, Discuss

BSU vs PLU?

Postby Ballaholic on Sun Mar 13, 2005 5:24 am

id like to know how this game turned out. I hate to see this loss for a fellow PNCLL B division title contender. This probably shouldve been a W for the Lutes. BSU is underrated and PLU had to play a tough game against UVSC the night before. I'd also like to know what happend with UPS vs UVSC. looking foward to some reports.

We simply did not live up to our potential. We didn't get up for the game, and seemed like we were waiting for someone to be our leader. Turns out, UVSC is just a little bit to good to do that against. The closest the game got was 1-0. It might have been 4-2, or 5-2 in the first. 10-2 at half. Everyone on both teams got to play quite a bit which was a plus. Once things went wrong for us, we ended up doing stupid things trying to make it happen. For the majority of the game we really tried to stop UVSC at midfield, and that was just unacceptable, and they made us pay. To give you an idea, PLU was even on the far side laughing at us, and we can't really blame them. . We were man-up so much, that if we scored on 50%, I would guess it would have been a pretty close game. I think they might have scored more when we were man-up. The wolverines destroyed us, and added 3 more goals in the last minute to make it even worse.

Even after that beating, I would love to play UVSC again, hopefully we can make it happen next year as well. I can't say enough good things about those guys. They were excellent representatives for their school and the game. If anything, they may have been to nice, but it's hard to fault a team for that. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on. We can beat an excellent Western team, and PLU, but when it came to travelling, PLU travelled pretty well, and made close games out of it, and we just got waxed.

I watched the BSU PLU game, and the game could have gone either way. I'm sure you'll get more details from PLU soon. I have to get ready to go play BSU in a minute.

Thanks to PLU and UPS for coming down to Boise. Both games with us were great games and we hope to see you all again soon.

The laughing is all due to USVC's attack/comedian #11. Had you folks seen him taking requests to run anywhere and everywhere all over the field, you'ld have laughed too.

Like Kyle said, the sportmanship and atlethisism of USVC is top notch. Nicest guys I've ever played in any sport.

Kyle,

Let me clarify the "laughing" thing. . .because we are certainly not in any place to laugh at a team that is struggling. UPS was playing "shut off" defense against #11 from UVSC- even when the ball was in the other end of the field. . .so #11 was running laps around his end of the field, standing in various corners of the field, etc. . .and even taking requests from fans for his next potential destination.

Nobody was taking pleasure in your frustration, it was just comical watching #11 prance around the field, well-defended, 50-60 yards from the action.

Lewis and Clark 9, Willamette 7

I don't know how much the board cares about arguably the two worst PNCLL teams playing, but I'll give a small recap:
Willamette dominated the game physically and emotionally. The game can be summed up with one word: GOALIES. Lewis and Clark's was amazing, ours played in his first game ever (An own goal didn't help our cause). Lewis and Clark had 21 shots, we had 34. Enough said pretty much, they perservered and came away with a hard fought victory to get them in the W column. Hard to say who wanted it more, but they got it.

Great game you guys, look forward to our next with you in April. Very sportsmanlike team, Thanks for coming down.

The Bad News Bearcats continue on towards their quest for victory
Don't ask what a bearcat is, because none of us can tell you...

Yea, L&C's Goalie played big against Linfield too. Linfield could have definately put in a few more if he didn't come up with some big stuffs.

We DO care. At least I do. Congrats to the Pios on the big conference win. When it's your first victory it's always extra sweet. We have no undefeated teams in the PNCLL, and it would be nice to have no winless teams either. So here's rooting for Albertson and Willamette to each win a game before the season is over, and for Idaho to win a conference game or two, PLEASE!

A quick update regarding PIOLax (Lewis & Clark) this season:

We are an extremely young team. Out of our 26 players, 16 have never played before and there are only 5 seniors to lead them. Therefore, we are dubbing this season a rebuilding season. We do have some amazing new talent here at Lewis and Clark. 1) Rafi Cuevas: Rafi is our goalie and in all of our games thus far, our biggest asset. He started all four years in High School in the bay area of California. At the beginning of this year, he approached me and begged me to 'let him play goalie!' Seeing as how last season's goalie graduated last year and there was no one else on the team talented/stupid enough to take the goal, Rafi is our man. He is positive, inspiring, and full of raw talent. 2) Eric Brown: I predict that this freshman will dominate the PNCLL 'B' league by his junior year. Brown is from Colorado and has been playing for over five years before joining PIOLax. At this point, he is forcing my veteran attackmen to step it up or risk being moved to midfield. He's quick on his feet and his shot gets faster every day.

Even though our record is painful for me and my fellow Pios to look at, we are having more fun this season than I have ever seen in my past four years associated with this program. The fight is there, the want is there, and the heart is there. It is only a matter of time until the skills catch up. We had a team meeting last night to talk about this season, and we all agreed to step it up another notch.

All of our games have been great thus far in the season. All of us (including myself) walk away from each game having learned something. We plan to use these hard taught lessons to improve our game play and our abilities. Each team we have played against and all of the officials who attended have been extremely patient with this young team as well as kind and fair. We are all very thankful for the mutual respect that exists in the PNCLL.

So, in conclusion, we decided not to lie down, not to give up; but instead to step it up. We thank all of the teams we have played thus far and we look forward to all the teams we will play again in the future. We figured that the season is not over until after the playoffs, and we are prepared to take our season there and push it further if possible.

Good luck and Thank You to all PNCLL teams.

Great attitude guys!! It's that kind of never-quit thinking that makes it all worthwhile. (Did you take that attitude from your school's namesakes? More true American heroes).
There are plenty of teams out there with lots more talent who have a ho-hum approach, and I'll take yours any day!
My high school team never won a game in my three years. Now I'm in my 36th year with the game and I still feel like a kid when I walk on the field. Lacrosse is the best!!
