Spent all day Saturday at the NSS in Denver. There are some very, very good players coming into the MCLA next year. Great performances by kids going to Chapman, Michigan, BYU, CU, CSU and Westminister off the top of my head.
Best player out there was a goalie going to Syracuse that played for the North. A lot of very good, very big, talented kids. Aside from my sunburn, a great day.
And Dick's Sporting Good's Park is a top-notch facility. The games were held on the two turf fields just across from the Rapids' soccer stadium. In addition to the stadium, there are 24 other fields, two of which are turf. All are lighted. Would make a great host for the MCLA tourney.

pat foy from timber creek in orlando (2 goals in the championship game) is listed as going to Tallahassee CC but i think his goal is to be admitted to FSU in the spring.
He was an easy pic for HSAA and the kid can play.

Yeah, Danny that kid was great. Big, tall kid, great finisher.

Mark Manning played attack for the West and is going to BYU. He played very well in the semis in the morning with two goals.
Dallas McLellen was one of the goalies for the West, going to Westminister.
Blair Bennet also played attack for the West and I believe he's going to Chapman. He had two goals in the consolation game. He's a little guy, but played with a chip on his shoulder.
Darren Hulick is a local kid from Heritage HS in Englewood, CO and is headed to CU. He got a lot of run at attack for the West.
Charles Carroll is headed to Michigan. He's a big attackman from Cincinnati. I don't believe he scored, but he held his own against some pretty good competition.
Luke Gilliand from Evergreen, CO played defense for the West and is headed to Stanford.
Jon Tew, headed to UGA, played for the South and scored in the morning semifinal game.
The West also had a middie going to Illinois, but his name escapes me at this time.
There was also middie on the East team that was a late add and he's headed to CSU. I'll have to check the program when I get home.
The consolation and championship games were a little sloppy as temperatures on the turf were well over 100 degrees and it was the second game of the day for everyone.
The thing that struck me the most was the size and speed of these kids. Lots of kids in the 6'2" - 6'4" range. And the stick skills are outstanding.

Hey! I'll have you know that there is an admissions freeze here in Tallahassee because the state won't raise tuition, now football players with only one conviction can get in but if you have two then you better send your application down to Coral Gables.
That reminds me, they are going to be bringing Coach Bobby out of his cryogenic chamber soon. We have to make sure he is all thawed out in time to mishandle the quarterback situation again this year and offer words of wisdom like, "Dagummit" and "Always shotgun draw on 3rd and long".
FSU Football: Boise or Bust in '09!
Seriously though, I don't know if transferring to FSU will be more difficult this year than it has been in years passed given the issues with the state government.

I am 99.9% sure that he will be attending the DIII Wheaton program located in MA, not IL. I sure hope that I am wrong and a top tier defender shows up in the fall... but as of yet no one here has heard from this guy!
