A Look Ahead to 2008 and a Proposal

For the record, Sonny's "photo" is a graphic image from the upcoming NCAA Football 2008 video game.

The 2-3,000 cited by an earlier poster is a pipe dream.

Agree. We had between 1000 and 1500 this year in Duluth (No. Atlanta suburb) for our semis and our finals at the SELC tournament. Those numbers represent the best crowd ever in SELC history and we have been at the same site with the same booster club for 3 straight years now (with a literal army of volunteers, many of which work year round on our event).

Find a high school lacrosse booster club with a decent venue that want to get behind your event and will let you come in for the entire championship tournament weekend.

Proposed Venue for 2008 PNCLL Finals

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Fri Jun 08, 2007 11:46 am

Starfire Sports Complex, main stadium. Seating capacity is 2,000. This place would be ideal for a PNCLL Final Four weekend. The complex is practically right next to SeaTac Airport, which means an abundance of hotels with convention/banquet facilities.

Right next to the stadium are three more fields with FieldTurf:

There are locker rooms, a restaurant, an athletic center/gymnasium and also indoor arena fields, which could be booked for team warm-ups if the weather turns foul. Starfire has hosted lacrosse and they are interested in our event.

Having multiple fields is a HUGE advantage for any proposed Final Four bid. Is there a similiar type facility in the Boise region? Spokane?

Are you kidding?! Spokane doesn't have anything even remotely close resembling anything in those pictures. To be honest, Spokane will probably never will have anything like that until a sugar daddy comes along and fronts the bill, but good luck with all that.

That looks like a pretty good venue.

The 2007 PNCLL Tourney brought in $2100 on Saturday in gate receipts and $1600 on Sunday. Numbers on Saturday were certainly boosted by the presence of a local team in PLU. . .all 75 kids that attended the Friday clinic got in both days for free.

Gate costs were $5 for adults, and $3 for kids. . .So we are guessing attendance was somewhere around 500-700 on Saturday and 400-600 on Sunday, for the record.

Had a local team advanced to the finals I'm sure the Sunday numbers would have been much greater. . .I just thought while you were discussing numbers I might provide some from recent history.

Starfire looks pretty sweet. I also thought Curtis HS was a great venue. Dan brings up a great point about field specs. If there is ever a time to have legal/regulation fields, it's the playoffs. The sprinTurf is nice but on a hot day you can cook on it. Do we have any nice (Pizza Hut Park nice) grass stadium fields in the greater PNCLL region?

All this talk about playoffs, lets just get the 2008 season underway!
