A friend of mine has come up with this concept to modernize baseball. Your thoughts?

I am probably a rarity on this board because I love baseball. I think the whole concept of "new" baseball is terrible for MLB. If someone wants to start an XFL type baseball league, more power to them.
Very creative concept, though. It could be interesting.

I think I would have to see it first. Maybe this guy can get something online showing what the game looks like. It's obviously going to be faster and, in some ways, more exciting. But I'm also a little biased as a baseball fan who "enjoys the game as it is now" as well.
Anyway like I said, it would be great to see an example of this game before passing too much judgement. It does look creative though, I agree with that statement.

We will be doing a full-on exhibition game this July in Omaha. I am curious to see how it goes as well. i really like the idea of outs carrying over from inning to inning.

you are in on this shenanigins Ethan? I am also interested on how this game will go, maybe it will make it more exciting of a game. now it can be between having a nose bleed and watching grass grow, rather than behind the two on the exciting scale.

Are you going to have a full on fight in the dugout then instead of the clubhouse after the catcher has a passed ball?

I don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but I don't think there's much to this new game. It's pretty much a bunch of rules to speed the game up. For example - two strikes is an out, and three balls is a walk. The no leading rule seems to be in place to eliminate the need for the pitcher to check on the runner. Just another way to speed the game up.
If the goal of this whole thing is in fact to just make a speedier version of baseball, then why are they letting you decide in which direction the bases are run? It doesn't seem to jive with the rest of the rules. It also seems weird to me to limit where the players in the field can play.
If someone has fun with it then that's cool, but it's not for me.

if it gets off the ground i'm sure orlando will get a franchise and embrace it. this area loves the 2nd tier sports. We had the most successful XFL franchise (The Rage), a largely followed IHL (?) team (Solar Bears) and Predators Tix routinely fetch higher prices than magic tickets.

I am not exactly in on it. The guy I work with and his buddies came up with the concept. He has been trying to promote it and I thought I would bring it to the place I know that I can get unbiased opinions. When Fox News turned me down, CollegeLax was my next choice.

In Omaha? When and where? Would be interested in seeing this game in action.

Heck yeah i want to see this! My problem with the "old" baseball rested solely on the fact that it was boring as hell. The new rules might be able to keep my add attention for at least a few innings. Keep us posted on the when and where and there will probably be a few UNL guys out there in the stands.

If your friends adopt any changes from that Futurama clip, I sincerely hope it's the 7th inning grope.
